This is a super informal get together where we can decompress, chat about the last operation.

Speaker A:

In this case, Operation Gold Mongoose.

Speaker A:

We had a decent go at another bug hunt.

Speaker A:

Getting our agents nice and experienced.

Speaker A:

Or just, I guess, dead when it comes to tracking down fun little critters.

Speaker A:

And this is one of my favorite scenarios to both run and play.

Speaker A:

Due to a particular ethical choice the players have to make in the moment, it's always yielded very interesting results.

Speaker A:

And although I adapted a manuscript for our game, the original scenario, characters, and concept came out of another gentleman's noggin, and we happen to have him here on the show today.

Speaker A:

Please introduce yourself, good sir.

Speaker B:

Hi, my name is Darius Griffin.

Speaker B:

Most people just call me D.

Speaker B:

I've been playing tabletop RPGs since I was eight.

Speaker B:

I started with Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.

Speaker B:

Yes, I can calculate your Thaco score.

Speaker B:

These days, you'll find me running Call of Cthulhu, Delta 3, Green Numenera, or random experimental RPGs.

Speaker C:

Speaker A:

Speaker D:

We found them, guys.

Speaker B:

You needed your THAC 0 scores.

Like, that's a new interlude?

Yeah, we've been kind of lost without that.

Speaker A:

I mean, the new rules are all back to 3.5 edition, am I right?

Speaker A:

I guess.

Speaker A:

Even earlier than that.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Well, I mean, so let me just ask you guys, like, how did you find it?

Speaker B:

Were you like, man, that was a lot of fun.

Or you were like, oh, God, I never want to do that again.

Speaker B:

And you can be honest here.

Like, I'm just curious, like, as players, you know, how did it go as.

Speaker C:

As the characters went?

Speaker C:

And it's an ongoing theme for.

Speaker C:

For us as players, but we always Fuck up a role.

Speaker C:

Like, every fucking chance we get, we fuck up a role.

Speaker C:

There's good information here.

Speaker C:

Not for us.

Speaker C:

So we basically have been operating in every opera off of just the.

Speaker C:

The first key points that we're given in our brief.

Speaker E:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

And anything that we're able to eke out of talking to a few people, but that about it.

Speaker C:

Like, I think we really botched it.

Speaker E:

We just keep stumbling onto the answer.

Speaker C:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker D:

Almost like we have a game master.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Michael's mad that Chris won't just give us information.

Speaker D:

But I will say this is my first time playing Delta Green, and my least favorite part of playing Delta Green is like, investigating, which is, oh, you're in trouble.

Speaker D:

The point of Delta Green, I feel.

Speaker C:

Like we really didn't get to experience much of.

Speaker C:

Much of what you laid out because we continuously botched every investigative role we stumbled our way through.

Speaker D:

I don't know if that's true, Eric.

Speaker D:

I think that's.

Speaker A:

That's not true.

Speaker A:

But de.

Speaker A:

If you want to.

Speaker A:

Actually.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

There's one part of your manuscript that they.

Speaker A:

They did not really get into, which was interviewing the kids.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So there's a few things here.

Speaker B:

Like, whenever I write scenarios, it should be next to impossible to, like, even if you fail every roll, like, there should always be a route towards the end.

Speaker B:

Put that in quotes.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

Because, like, I don't know, this gets into, like, a meta.

Speaker B:

Like, how do you write RPG scenarios without having it just be like, scene A, scene B, scene, you know, C, obviously, players have autonomy and they can interact with the world however they want.

Speaker B:

And so, like, they can just go off the rails and say things like, yeah, we're not going to interview the kids, for instance.

Speaker B:

So, like, most players.

Speaker B:

And I've run this one a few times, like, most players will go to the Warehouse prior to visiting the school.

Speaker B:

And I understand you guys did not do that, which I find interesting, because when you find out the information about the Warehouse, it's literally like on a roadmap with, like, X's drawn on it.

Speaker B:

And, like, it's supposed to be a joke.

Speaker B:

When I wrote it, it's supposed to be a joke because there's, like.

Speaker B:

I think he draws, like, Seamont.

Speaker B:

Like, Darren's insane, by the way.

Speaker C:

He couldn't pick up on that.

Speaker B:

There's, like, sea monsters on the map.

Speaker B:

And then he draws, like, a bunch of X's as to, like, where he's found the Detroit Jabberwocky and what else has he done?

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker B:

And it also corresponds with the dumping location of his body.

Speaker B:

So it's like, oh, that's clearly where he was murdered.

Speaker B:

Maybe we should investigate that.

Speaker B:

But you guys saw that and were like, never mind.

Speaker B:

I think we want to wait until the morning, I guess, and go talk to some school kids or try and find out about these school kids.

Speaker B:

I think it's totally open as to how you approach the school as well.

Speaker B:

And I think I wrote a little bit about that to try and make it as like, to try and give, like, handlers enough room to feel like, how do you handle these players that are just gonna go walk into a school most of the time that around the scenario, people will have to pull their credentials, which is a big deal in Delta Green.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

Like, if you have to use your FBI credentials or whatever credentials, you have, your agent's credentials to be like, yeah, we're investigating these missing children.

Speaker B:

We believe it's a federal matter.

Speaker B:

I need to go talk to these kids as part of this investigation.

Speaker B:

These school will actually work with you.

Speaker B:

They are interested in also trying to find these kids.

Speaker B:

And even though they've already had the police interview them, federal agents haven't actually come by because it's actually not a federal matter.

Speaker B:

But you can totally pull one over those school teachers who want to help kids.

Speaker B:

It's pretty easy to do.

Speaker B:

If you try a different tact, which I believe you guys did, there's still a route to success there.

Speaker B:

You just got to not fail all those roles.

Speaker B:

And even then, depending on how generous your handler's being, and sometimes a handler or GM Is not being generous.

Speaker B:

You could just have a faithful encounter outside of school, too.

Speaker B:

And that's.

Speaker B:

You know, those are always, like, things you don't want to have to do because it is kind of like pulling the players along, and you want the players to be able to discover things on their own.

Speaker A:

Michael.

Speaker A:

What's the word for that?

Speaker D:

Railroading.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Eric tells Tell G.

Speaker A:

About how.

Speaker A:

How dangerous it is to have your legit credentials flashed around.

Speaker A:

I think you maybe.

Speaker A:

Maybe Michael can chime in too.

Speaker F:

Yeah.

It would be more of a Michael thing, because my character left.

Speaker D:

I haven't.

My character Ryan grabbed him and was like, I'm gonna pretend to be him.

Speaker E:

Yeah.

Meanwhile, the two of us were off at the school.

Speaker D:

It was purely utilitarian.

Speaker B:

Speaker A:

What's amazing, though?

Speaker A:

I don't think anybody knows he.

Speaker A:

He did that.

Speaker A:

Except.

Speaker A:

No, nobody did that.

Speaker C:

He made.

Speaker C:

Sorry.

Speaker C:

He made Romeo aware of it immediately.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

But I don't think Romeo Is in any place right now to retain.

Speaker C:

Oh, absolutely.

Speaker A:

Not due to the fact his brain doesn't work anymore.

Speaker C:

No, not at all.

Speaker A:

Same with Lenny.

Speaker D:

Yeah, we turned him on.

Speaker C:

Romeo was planning a special revenge.

Speaker D:

I like the idea of instead of calling it killing somebody, you just turned off their life.

Speaker B:

Geez, man, you are really embracing that, like, sociopath.

Speaker B:

I love it.

Speaker B:

You're getting character.

Speaker D:

That's right.

Speaker E:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

But we didn't.

Speaker D:

I didn't get an actual, like, real time reaction from.

Speaker D:

From Eric to that.

Speaker D:

Speaker D:

I did just listen to that scene and Eric didn't hear you ask if he had his credentials with them or not.

Speaker D:

And that was the whole.

Speaker D:

He was.

Speaker D:

He was watching a squirrel outside his window at the time.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

I'm sure Eric will be very pleased to know that I kept that in our.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah, our master.

Speaker A:

Speaker D:

Wait, so if.

Speaker D:

If we were supposed to go to the Warehouse first, like Chris, did you kind of, I guess, rework what was in there?

Speaker D:

Because I don't understand how that was kind of the climax for us.

Speaker B:

It's a normal look.

Speaker A:

Speaker C:

Right.

Speaker D:

What's the need to, like, go talk to the school once you get to the Warehouse and find what you find?

Speaker B:

Yeah, so normally if you go to the Warehouse, you'll find some evidence too, that Marcus Cruz is like, the parents of Andy.

Speaker B:

And so it doesn't really explain, like, the missing children.

Speaker B:

So as an investigator, like, well, we killed this thing.

Speaker B:

You still need to find out more about these.

Speaker B:

These children or.

Speaker D:

Mmm.

Speaker D:

Got it.

Speaker B:

You will keep getting emails from Agent Griffin who's like, you know, more people are dying, by the way, more people are dying if you keep investigating.

Speaker C:

That's what I was afraid of happening while we were playing is like more kids start disappearing.

Speaker C:

Not me specifically, but the character was afraid of that.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

That means you're doing a bad job.

Speaker C:

Wonderful.

Speaker C:

When that happens.

Speaker C:

For story.

Speaker E:

To be fair, when the kids started dying again, two of us were dead.

Speaker E:

Two of us were trapped in a hotel room.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's a really good situation to be.

Speaker B:

And I think for the handler, anyway, he's having a good time, not you guys.

Speaker A:

Oh, it's very true.

Speaker C:

Very true.

Speaker F:

I put so much time into that character developing it.

Speaker D:

I will say, of everyone, John seemed the most like, truly like, as a human outside of the game, disappointed that Lenny's dead.

Speaker D:

That Lenny.

Speaker F:

That's why.

Speaker F:

That's why I haven't.

Speaker D:

He's still glad.

Speaker F:

I really haven't done too much with this new Guy.

Speaker F:

It's because I'm just like, he's just gonna die again.

Speaker F:

I don't want to get to know him.

Speaker C:

There's a.

Speaker C:

There's a phrase in improv for, like, how you handle creating characters or creating situations, and it's hold on tightly, let go lightly.

Speaker C:

So, like, you stick to the character that you have or the situation you're in, but if something changes, you just gotta let it go.

Speaker C:

Because if you insist on it being around, you're ruining the.

Speaker C:

Yes.

Speaker C:

And of everything.

Speaker C:

And I think that applies to characters in a lot of gameplay because.

Speaker C:

And it's a lesson I've taken a long time to learn myself because I used to get really invested in the characters too, but especially in Delta, I.

Speaker A:

Want you to still get invested.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

What about righty tighty, lefty loosey?

Speaker C:

That's another good, fun story.

Speaker D:

Is that part of the improv?

Speaker C:

Speaker D:

He's like, well, I attack.

I try to get a clean shot on it.

And what happens is he lost.

Speaker D:

He lost his.

Speaker C:

He rolled poorly and had a mental break.

Speaker C:

And so that played out as he shot through the little kid's head that the creature was hiding behind and then proceeded to empty his clip into the creature.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

That's a totally natural reaction, though, in that situation.

Speaker C:

I love it.

Speaker C:

It was amazing.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So I.

Speaker D:

A lot of trains in this campaign.

Speaker C:

It wasn't a.

Speaker C:

No, that is.

Speaker D:

I'm joking.

Speaker A:

That is.

Speaker D:

I just love the railroading references.

Speaker D:

It's become a bit now.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

He's got a hat and a whistle.

Anytime Chris opens his mouth, he blows that whistle.

The player discord kind of lights up every time this happens.

Speaker A:

Well, hey, you got rid of the Andy thing.

Speaker A:

That's good that as.

Speaker A:

As you discovered later, these.

Speaker A:

These critters are difficult to deal with.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker A:

They seem quite spry and.

Speaker A:

And creative in the ways that they like to deal with their prey.

Speaker A:

So, you know, that's probably overall a good thing.

Speaker A:

They certainly do.

Speaker A:

Honestly, when I.

Speaker A:

When I've played and run this before, I usually.

Speaker A:

My players get really, really freaked out about the bacteria aspect, but y'all didn't really care.

Speaker A:

Y'all were, like, playing in that stuff, like a sandbox, splashing it on our faces.

Speaker D:

Yeah, well, I mean, I didn't know what we.

Speaker D:

I thought about it, but I didn't know what we could have done about it.

Speaker D:

You know what I mean?

Speaker D:

I guess in my head, right, we.

Speaker C:

Didn'T have any characters specializing in any of that.

Speaker C:

So until the end.

Speaker C:

But.

Speaker C:

And he didn't.

Speaker D:

But even.

Speaker D:

Even with that, like, Eric's new.

Speaker D:

New character, I guess in my mind, I didn't even know what.

Speaker D:

I mean, sure, he's like a plastic surgeon, but, I mean, that doesn't mean he knows alien bacteria.

Speaker C:

Right.

Speaker D:

I think that's a hell of a leap.

Speaker F:

Yeah.

Speaker F:

In that moment, I just remember.

Speaker F:

Well, plus, I was on the new character as well, and it just.

Speaker F:

It felt like very much a search and destroy mentality.

Speaker F:

Like, hey, we're here.

Speaker F:

We found it.

Speaker F:

We need to stop it as fast as possible before it gets away.

Speaker F:

So, yeah, the bacteria.

Speaker D:

There's also some realism of.

Speaker D:

That was like our.

Speaker D:

I don't know, like, fourth or fifth session for this arc, and we're like, let's wrap this up.

Speaker C:

Well, especially after losing two.

Speaker C:

Two agents.

Speaker D:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

In the middle of the mission.

Speaker C:

It certainly puts a vice on.

Speaker C:

On the survivors.

Speaker C:

Did buckle down and blast finish out of existence.

Speaker D:

Did Lenny and Romeo.

Speaker D:

Was that how that all played out really?

Speaker D:

Like, attributable to just shitty roles?

Speaker C:

I think largely, yeah.

Speaker C:

And my character's paranoia.

Speaker F:

Yeah, there was some pretty.

Speaker F:

We missed.

Speaker F:

We were given a couple opportunities, and we failed the roles each time.

Speaker F:

I mean, I remember talking to Chris afterwards, I was thinking, like, maybe I kind of regret not having Lenny surrender.

Speaker F:

I feel like after that first shot that went off, I feel like he would have.

Speaker F:

He would have immediately dropped down and, like, put his hands up.

Speaker F:

I just.

Speaker F:

It didn't really.

Speaker F:

I was back in the moment.

Speaker F:

I was, like, really back and forth on.

Speaker F:

It's like this is what he would do is what he wouldn't do.

Speaker F:

And kind of.

Speaker F:

It's like my one regret from that campaign.

Speaker F:

I mean, he would have ended up in jail and still never would have been able to play the character again.

Speaker F:

So it's a loss either way, but.

Speaker A:

Or maybe you never know.

Speaker E:

We had four or five different ways to handle Getting out of their planned out.

Speaker C:

Oh, for sure.

Speaker F:

Yeah.

Speaker F:

And apparently just run.

Speaker E:

Honestly, that's all it was.

Speaker F:

You just had to run.

Speaker A:

I mean, you guys could have followed me.

Speaker F:

Ryan just ran.

Speaker A:

It's, it's, it's always going to be a combination.

Speaker A:

So I didn't plan any of that.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

I, I, I'll be clear as your handler, I did not, I did not expect y'all to just stride out, heads held high of the front door.

Speaker A:

That was a very big surprise for me.

Speaker A:

And what happened after that was a, one of the worst cavalcades of bad rolls that we've had as a group to try to deal with the consequences of that choice.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, definitely some bad rolls after that.

Speaker A:

But I would say that choice precipitated those bad rolls.

Speaker B:

I mean, so, like, that ending situation you want to describe it as, that is always a tough one for players because usually at that point, like, even in the best of scenarios, like they've discharged firearms, Andy usually gets blown away, and then they're stuck with Roy.

Speaker B:

And that's always where that conundrum comes in.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

What do we do with Roy?

Speaker B:

Is Roy one of them?

Speaker B:

And there's a few different ways as handler that I like to play that one.

Speaker B:

And it can just depend on the group and, like, what they've been through.

Speaker B:

One of my favorite ones is letting the agents put Roy in a car.

Speaker B:

And that's the point where they realize that Roy is also an alien and that just.

Speaker B:

Yeah, and then they're really fucked.

Speaker B:

But it solves a situation where, like, because, like, you know, players start asking themselves, like, what do I do with this kid?

Speaker B:

Like, do we just turn him into child services?

Speaker B:

Like, I just murdered his brother in front of him.

Speaker B:

He's like catatonic.

Speaker B:

Like, I don't know if he's an alien or not.

Speaker B:

Like, we gotta get his smart agents.

Speaker B:

Like, we gotta check him for bacteria.

Speaker B:

Like, go look in his mouth.

And of course, as soon as you look in his mouth, like, yeah, you know what happens next.

Speaker B:

It's a bad time for you.

Speaker C:

Yeah, but draw back a nub.

Speaker B:

Yep, exactly.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So, you know, we're going to take the blinders off.

Speaker B:

There is no situation where it really benefits the agents.

Speaker B:

You're always going to come out of that one as an L, but it's always a good time.

Speaker C:

I think that that pretty much encapsulates all of Delta Green.

Speaker C:

You're not meant to have a good time.

Speaker E:

The goal is to.

Speaker D:

I know I haven't.

Speaker D:

So.

Speaker B:

I mean, like, you know, the other option too.

Speaker B:

A lot of times agents will just shoot the kid and then they suffer a huge sanity loss.

Speaker B:

I will say that if you let Roy become an alien and take care of him, then like usually there's a bit more of a sanity gain.

Speaker B:

So it's like, okay, well, like you did a thing.

Speaker C:

Certainly an open ended question with us.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

If you just blast them and you're just like, I killed the child.

Speaker B:

It's always you just shoot him.

Speaker B:

It's always you just kill the child.

Speaker B:

Here's some sanity loss.

Speaker E:

I mean, it's not like we had a choice.

Speaker D:

Done and done.

Speaker B:

I mean, when you panic and you.

Speaker D:

Unload, I mean, I will say though, like my firearms, I, I would replay that similarly because I think that objectively, statistically, like my stats are that I would have expected to have been more successful with that.

Speaker D:

I assume, Chris, I just rolled pretty shitty actually.

Speaker A:

You had suffered a temporary insanity.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So yeah, you basically I playing this kind of veiled sanity, you know, trying to feel it out a little bit.

Speaker A:

And so what I'm asking of you, and I'm sure you all have picked up on this by now, is, you know what, what's the first thing you do?

Speaker A:

And that kind of tells me how that temporary insanity will manifest.

Speaker A:

Instead of just having you with the new rules, actually you choose one of the options that have been written by the developers of Delta Green or for me to choose one of the options.

Speaker A:

So I kind of do a hybrid now since you don't know that you've, you've entered that, that rule set, that temporary insanity rule set.

Speaker C:

And I think, I think that was handled very wonderfully because it gave such a awesome sense of surprise when like immediately he unloads and, and just everything went into chaos.

Speaker C:

Yeah, it like once that happened, I like, oh, this is the end for us.

Speaker D:

Yeah, I mean it was a pretty.

Speaker C:

Interesting way out of this because he's FBI, because he's already paranoid because like, like this isn't going to go well for him at all.

Speaker F:

I mean like when you get there though with the kid and he starts, you know, tentacle facing everything, like what?

Speaker F:

I mean, firearms are going to get discharged.

Speaker F:

So then it's just, how do you get, how do you get out of that situation?

Speaker F:

Have other people gotten out of the situation or have they not had to face down the.

Speaker D:

Well, I think that the, the cops came because I unloaded like the whole clip.

Speaker D:

Like if it was just one shot, which was the initial thing, I don't think it Would have mattered much.

Speaker F:

I think there was a reload in there, and then another full clip got emptied.

Speaker F:

And then maybe.

Speaker A:

I think Romeo stepped in and, yeah.

Speaker E:

He just kept trying to fire on an empty mag.

Speaker F:

There was a lot.

Speaker F:

A lot of shooting happened, but, yeah.

Speaker F:

Oh, no.

Speaker F:

Eric's character reloaded.

Speaker F:

I remember that.

Speaker D:

He.

Speaker F:

He went through a full clip, reloaded, then kept.

Speaker F:

Yeah, so it was a lot.

Speaker F:

Okay, I get it.

Speaker D:

He was just really excited.

Speaker D:

He's like, oh, sweet, we're killing kids.

Speaker E:

Meanwhile, Roisin's like, I'm out of here.

Speaker E:

Don't care.

Speaker D:

I liked.

Speaker D:

I liked that.

Speaker D:

I think that added really well to the chaos of just like Ryzen's, like.

Speaker C:

I can't even answer when you don't want shit to go wrong.

Speaker C:

Everything went wrong.

Speaker C:

It was like a Quentin Tarantino, like, Reservoir Dog scenario.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker F:

And poor Lenny just like, what the fuck is happening?

Speaker F:

What am I supposed to do here?

Speaker F:

Just like, where am I?

Speaker D:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

Two played very well.

Speaker F:

Does anybody want to see a magic trick?

Speaker F:

No more magic tricks from Lenny.

Speaker F:

I'm never gonna get to see him.

Speaker C:

Watch me disappear from life.

Speaker E:

I mean, we did take away Lenny's card when it came to magic tricks, so.

Speaker A:

That's true.

Speaker F:

I was like.

Speaker F:

I kind of set the character up, too, as a way to have him do, like.

Speaker F:

Because I was interested in playing, like, a stealth, sleight of hand thief, rogue, ish type character.

Speaker F:

And so I kind of built Lenny out in that way.

Speaker F:

And I'm my only.

Speaker F:

I'm a little bummed.

Speaker F:

I never got to.

Speaker F:

Never got to try any of that stuff out.

Speaker F:

I was waiting for, like, we need to get, like, this guy's security badge off him to enter this, you know, restricted building.

Speaker F:

And I was like, oh, this would be my moment.

Speaker F:

I could sneak up and, you know.

Speaker A:

But it's too bad he didn't do any escape artist stuff, like, you know, picking locks.

Speaker A:

That would have been helpful.

Speaker C:

So, quick question.

Speaker E:

Oh, sorry, not following.

Speaker E:

Romeo.

Speaker C:

Yeah, don't fall anywhere.

Speaker C:

Quick question, though.

Speaker C:

What would have happened if we had, like, shut off the TV or turned the AC to, like, 70 degrees in the house?

Speaker B:

Yeah, none of those would have mattered.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

Just for mood, I think the monster would have died.

Speaker B:

Yeah, well, I think it's to.

Speaker B:

So that may be Chris adding some really nice color to the situation.

Speaker B:

I haven't heard it, but if you mentioned, like, yeah, the room is, like, warmer than it should be.

Speaker B:

Like, that is.

Speaker B:

Is Chris talking about, like, incubation and things like that, which kind of gets at the Crux of, like, what are those aliens really trying to do?

Speaker B:

Which I think is great.

Speaker B:

So that is good color.

Speaker B:

That is great work from a good GM there.

Speaker B:

That's adding that.

Speaker B:

That's not necessarily written in the original manuscript, but I think that's a lot of flavor.

Speaker F:

There was a.

Speaker F:

Was it Dragon Ball Z, I think, was blasting on the TV right.

Speaker F:

As loud as possible.

Speaker C:

I mean, just both those elements kind of added to the.

Speaker C:

The tension ratchet for us as characters at the time, because we.

Speaker C:

I can't speak for y'all, but.

Speaker C:

But for my character, like, I was just imagining him feeling like they weren't getting anywhere.

Speaker C:

And, like, this felt like the end of their investigative rope and everything is just bizarre and wrong here.

Speaker C:

And, like, his.

Speaker C:

His sense of something being completely out of place started, like, the tingling on the back of his neck kind of situation.

Speaker C:

And so I was.

Speaker C:

I really wanted to lean into that in the scene.

Speaker C:

And I don't know if it came across that way, but certainly it had the hairs on my arms standing up.

Speaker C:

It was.

Speaker C:

It was nice.

Speaker E:

Yeah, it's that good.

Speaker E:

It definitely set up some red flags with me stepping into the house, doubly so because I went in alone with the kids.

Speaker C:

It's true.

Speaker A:

And then Romeo was, like, peeking through the crack of the front door, which was really interesting.

Speaker C:

I was like, okay, guys, this is.

Speaker B:

When you tell, like, your agents are losing their sanity and they're doing, like, really weird things in public.

Speaker A:

Yep, yep, yep, yep.

Speaker F:

I just.

Speaker F:

Wonderful in my mind, while they were.

Speaker F:

They were, like, unloading on this kid, like, on the tv.

Speaker F:

Behind him, someone's going.

Speaker F:

Super Saiyan.

Speaker F:

Just.

Speaker F:

Gunfire.

Speaker F:

Chaotic.

Speaker F:

Chaotic.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So screaming Japanese is occurring behind all of this.

Speaker A:

Dariush, while they're.

Speaker A:

While they're trying to deal with this flailing, bitentacled creature that's holding a child hostage.

Speaker A:

And it's just excellent.

Speaker C:

Ask the weight of excellent scenery.

Speaker C:

Are they kids?

Speaker C:

Well, so, I mean, are they really still kids kind of thing, you know, like.

Speaker D:

Well, well, no, that's the thing.

Speaker D:

We didn't really kill kids.

Speaker B:

Well, no, Roy, you definitely killed and Roy is a kid because he killed.

Speaker B:

You definitely murdered your child.

Speaker D:

He.

Speaker D:

He was a kid.

Speaker B:

He was a kid.

Speaker D:

He's dead now.

Speaker B:

He's definitely dead now.

Speaker B:

There's a lot of living.

Speaker B:

But no, Andy and Marcus are no longer human.

Speaker B:

They're.

Speaker B:

They're gone.

Speaker B:

And I think you guys even found out that, you know, Marcus hadn't shown up to work at the Univon, like, break Factory or whatever in, like, two Weeks or something.

Speaker B:

Like, so he's been an alien for a while.

Speaker B:

And the reason why you're able to find Darren's body is because they prefer to eat things with ovaries or women.

Speaker B:

And so, like, Darren tracks down what he thinks.

Speaker B:

Detroit Jabberwocky, of course, Marcus.

Speaker B:

And Marcus basically just defends himself, but he doesn't want to eat his whole body because he kind of tastes gross to him.

Speaker B:

They prefer to eat things that are female or have ovaries.

Speaker B:

Like, that's what they.

Speaker B:

Their tastes have evolved to like.

Speaker B:

So I think you guys asked, what.

Speaker B:

What is this thing?

Speaker B:

And you're trying to, like, peg it to something in the.

Speaker B:

In the mythos.

Speaker B:

And the answer is, like, it doesn't exist in, like, the traditional catalog.

Speaker B:

This is just something from my own imagination inspired by mongooses.

Speaker C:

Beautiful.

Speaker B:

Well, mongooses steal eggs.

Speaker B:

So the fact that that name popped up, I was like, oh, that.

Speaker B:

That fits.

Speaker B:

Like, here's a creature that is trying to reproduce and just throws itself across the galaxy looking for things that have some kind of genetic material that it can potentially hijack.

Speaker B:

And that's why I think in the Warehouse, you find, like, all of the partial, like, mutated eggs and things like that, and it's not having a good time with human DNA.

Speaker B:

I mean, interestingly enough, like, one option that players sometimes do when they get to the warehouse is to just run away.

Speaker B:

I think there's a point made of a fire escape that's, like, on the third level that you can, like, pop out of and just run.

Speaker B:

And that is always an option.

Speaker B:

Of course, there's a sanity loss there when it flies into its spaceship, which is located in the basement of.

Speaker B:

Or the first floor of the abandoned appliance factory.

Speaker F:

There was a spaceship.

Speaker E:

We missed that.

Speaker F:

So someone's gonna find that when they start.

Speaker C:

No, you brought that building down there.

Speaker F:

But if a spaceship can survive space, it could probably survive a concrete building falling on it.

Speaker C:

But if there's a building on it, it ain't going anywhere.

Speaker F:

Somebody's gotta excavate it.

Speaker F:

Well, okay, fine.

Speaker C:

It's Detroit.

Speaker B:

Another Delta Green team has to deal with the weird spaceship that some construction crew finds later on.

Speaker A:

Yeah, some demo team is like, every.

Speaker C:

Delta Green team is always cursing out the last Delta Green team that was there.

Speaker E:

The mysterious F.S.

Speaker E:

k.

Speaker E:

Cell can go in and deal with it.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker A:

They need some work.

Speaker A:

Some extra work.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I think.

Speaker A:

I think.

Speaker D:

Sorry.

Speaker C:

Go ahead.

Speaker D:

Go ahead.

Speaker A:

No, no, you got it.

Speaker A:

You got it.

Speaker D:

I was gonna say does.

Speaker D:

Know about the new Scenario that you were in.

Speaker A:

D I can't imagine I haven't run this for you, but, but yeah, I, I, I, I can, I can talk, I can find out offline, I suppose, but no, I, I haven't touched base with him on, on the next.

Speaker D:

Okay.

Speaker D:

Yeah, I wasn't sure if this was another one that he.

Speaker A:

No, no, this one, this one is, It's, I've been running it for, gosh, 11 years or so.

Speaker A:

Pretty, pretty excited to, to get you guys going with it because it's, it's one of my favorites.

Speaker A:

It's never been published or committed to the airwave, so to speak.

Speaker A:

So it really deserves it.

Speaker A:

And honestly, I think that's a good, you know, spot to kind of, kind of wrap up this, this chat.

Speaker A:

Do y'all have any other, like, outstanding questions before I kind of tease, tease the next session?

Speaker C:

Oh, yeah, so I mentioned the thing, but actually that didn't come until later.

Speaker B:

So there is a Japanese anime called Level E, which when you watch or if you do decide to watch or read the manga for it and you hear like, this scenario, you'll probably wonder what the connection is.

Speaker B:

But I think it's like one of the middle episodes of that anime, the tone suddenly shifted and instead of being like a lighthearted comedy, was suddenly this, like, noir horror.

Speaker B:

And as part of that horror, these, like, Japanese kids were turning into tentacle monsters.

Speaker B:

Swear to God, it's not a hentai.

Speaker B:

I say that a lot these days, but, yeah, no one believes me.

Speaker B:

But yeah, they were just like, these Japanese, like, school kids are going around and, like, eating girls or whatever.

Speaker B:

And I just thought that that was just a premise I could play off of and turn that into a Delta Green scenario.

Speaker B:

So, so that's actually kind of where it came from.

Speaker B:

Very odd.

Speaker C:

It worked beautifully.

Speaker B:

Yeah, very odd pedigree there.

Speaker B:

But yes, that was the actual original influence, which I've never admitted anywhere but here.

Speaker B:

So now the dirty secret's out.

Speaker A:
