Hello?
Speaker A:What time is it?
Speaker A:Who is it?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker A:Situation.
Speaker B:Dream, Blood, Stripes.
Speaker A:Sorry, honey, I have to take this.
Speaker A:So the team is a bit scattered right now.
Speaker A:We've got three of our agents.
Speaker A:I'm including Linny, our friendly, in that grouping.
Speaker A:But three of our agents in the crew's household kitchen.
Speaker A:Agent Romeo is currently kneeling down, hands covered with blood, as he looks for brass casings, spent brass casings from his own firearm, and Ryan's.
Speaker A:Lenny has bent down to help, shaken by the scene that he's run into.
Speaker A:And Agent Ryan is just about done slicking back his hair, using a reflected surface on the refrigerator to get to ship shape form.
Speaker A:Now, Agent Roizen is nowhere to be seen.
Speaker A:She sprinted out of the house moments ago, and Lenny saw her kind of disappear over the horizon down the block.
Speaker A:So we'll be getting to Agent Roizen shortly.
Speaker A:But why don't we start with you three?
Speaker A:You hear as you're scrambling in this slippery abattoir, you're.
Speaker A:You hear loud sirens in the distance.
Speaker A:Now, these are loud enough that you can hear them over the television in the other room.
Speaker A:You three turn and look at each other, eyes wide.
Speaker A:Stop what you're doing for a brief moment.
Speaker C:Romeo is going to, I guess, if this requires a roll, like, sweep the area with his eyes for another, for any last straying bullet casings.
Speaker C:And he's going to say, we need to get the fuck out of here.
Speaker A:You're gonna just hope for the best with a glance over.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You see at least maybe six or seven in the blood scattered around on the floor.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker A:That you could quickly snatch those into the palm of your left hand, I.
Speaker C:Guess, put them in the jacket pocket and let's get the fuck out.
Speaker A:Yeah, Agent Ryan.
Speaker A:Lenny.
Speaker B:Ryan's gonna turn to the group and say, all right, well, this is a little bit of a tough situation.
Speaker B:Lenny, you were just at the precinct with me using Romeo here's badge.
Speaker B:I think it's probably best that we don't get too involved with local law enforcement, if possible.
Speaker B:And then he heads out the back of the house and runs away.
Speaker C:Great.
Speaker D:Lenny's just sitting there going, shit, Shit.
Speaker D:He just.
Speaker D:He just ran off.
Speaker D:What the fuck was he doing?
Speaker C:This is what we call a scumbag exit.
Speaker C:Goodbye.
Speaker D:I can't go to jail.
Speaker D:I don't want to go.
Speaker D:I'm not even supposed to fucking be here.
Speaker C:Come on, Lenny, let's go.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker D:Let's go.
Speaker C:And we're heading out through the front to the vehicle.
Speaker C:If Romeo doesn't see the lights of a police car, then he will make his way to the vehicle.
Speaker C:Otherwise he's gonna head back out the back way.
Speaker A:Are you rushing out?
Speaker A:Are you striding out proudly?
Speaker A:What's your gait here?
Speaker C:Confident, nonchalant, but gotcha.
Speaker A:So just to be clear, your hands are covered with blood.
Speaker C:They are in the blood.
Speaker A:So is the front of your front of your suit jacket and shirt where you put brass casings into.
Speaker A:So you've got blood down the front of your.
Speaker A:Your dress shirt.
Speaker A:Lynnie also has blood all over his hands.
Speaker A:As you two, nonchalantly and proud, not proudly, but confidently walk out the Cruise household.
Speaker A:Now, you don't see any flashing lights coming down the road right now.
Speaker A:What you do see, though, very clearly across the street are two of the neighbors in their front yard, both holding up what look like cell phones.
Speaker C:Fuck.
Speaker C:No time.
Speaker D:Did we peek out?
Speaker D:Did we look outside first?
Speaker B:We just, okay, quickly look down and.
Speaker C:Make our way to the vehicle.
Speaker C:Got really no other option.
Speaker A:Lenny, what do you do?
Speaker D:How far to the house did I get before I noticed the cell phones?
Speaker A:You both left the house and then I described what was across the street.
Speaker D:Oh, okay, so we didn't look.
Speaker D:We weren't like, checking out the door.
Speaker A:First to see that is not something that was narrated by either of you.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker D:Okay, yeah, just.
Speaker D:Oh, man, we're going to jail.
Speaker A:You're watching Romeo put his head down and just like now, not so confidently walking.
Speaker A:He's now kind of shuffling as quickly as he can towards your large black suv.
Speaker D:Yeah, I guess I follow him to the suv.
Speaker D:Jump in.
Speaker A:Got it.
Speaker A:One of the neighbors yells something as you close the door.
Speaker A:Don't quite make it out.
Speaker A:Romeo, you're in the driver's seat.
Speaker A:Start the vehicle up.
Speaker A:Where are you headed?
Speaker C:Opposite direction of the sirens.
Speaker A:They're coming from the north.
Speaker C:Okay, so I'll head the opposite way.
Speaker A:Okay, so you go east down the block, just kind of arbitrarily choosing a direction, and then immediately turn south.
Speaker A:When you're able to go ahead and roll your luck, please.
Speaker A:Failure before long.
Speaker A:As you wind your way through this northern Detroit suburb, you look at a sign, a road sign that says no through entry, and it looks like it's going straight into a cul de sac.
Speaker C:Romeo's gonna sweep around the cul de sac and try to exit out towards a different way.
Speaker C:Make another way out.
Speaker A:Sure.
Speaker A:So you go ahead and turn the vehicle around, do a three point in the middle of this kind of crowded residential street.
Speaker A:Come back the way you came in order to hopefully find a better way out of this suburb.
Speaker A:Both of you hear overhead the telltale signs of helicopter blades.
Speaker B:Chris, how much time has passed?
Speaker A:Minutes.
Speaker A:Gonna keep it vague because this is a very adrenaline fueled set of scenes as they rush.
Speaker C:Okay, we need to.
Speaker C:I need to drive until I find an overpass and I'd like to stop under that overpass if that's possible.
Speaker C:I can.
Speaker C:We can do whatever.
Speaker A:You're not super familiar with this part of Detroit.
Speaker A:In fact, you're not familiar with Detroit at all.
Speaker C:Just, Lenny, pull up Google Maps, find me an overpass.
Speaker D:Hey, Chris.
Speaker A:Randomly choosing a southerly direction has not helped just yet.
Speaker D:Out of character.
Speaker D:I feel like we're fucked.
Speaker D:And I'm like, do we play this out or do we just.
Speaker D:I mean.
Speaker D:Or are we just fucked and we.
Speaker C:Play this out, man?
Speaker A:There's a.
Speaker A:There's a billion different things you guys could try to do in this situation.
Speaker A:So I can't.
Speaker A:I cannot.
Speaker A:I cannot just say you're railroaded into prison right now.
Speaker A:But what I can do is tell you what's happening and you have full control of your characters the entire time.
Speaker A:I'm narrating.
Speaker C:Yep.
Speaker C:And I mean, this is the beauty of the fun tense situation.
Speaker C:I'm gonna make mistakes and Lenny's going to jail.
Speaker C:Sorry, Lenny.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You're going to jail.
Speaker D:Yeah, I guess.
Speaker D:I guess that's.
Speaker D:This is a one shot for this character.
Speaker C:I hope you like soft kisses because you get a lot of them there.
Speaker D:All right.
Speaker A:A lot of midnight hugs, we call those.
Speaker C:Yep.
Speaker D:I'm gonna be 0 for 2 on characters surviving missions.
Speaker D:There we go.
Speaker A:Look, I don't want to hear any of this silly glass half empty bullshit.
Speaker A:Fucking get your shit together and figure out a way out, Big noggin.
Speaker A:Use it, Lemmy.
Speaker D:And he grabs his pepper spray off his keychain and says, let's him up.
Speaker D:It's Google.
Speaker D:All right, Lenny.
Speaker D:Lenny hears what he says and says, yeah.
Speaker D:He pulls up in Google Maps.
Speaker D:He's like, what do you want me to do?
Speaker C:Find me an overpass or something where we can park this vehicle and make a foot escape.
Speaker D:Lenny just like pinches out the map, hit like taps on the nearest freeway that he sees without him really thinking about it and just hits start directions.
Speaker A:No problem.
Speaker A:Go ahead and roll your luck.
Speaker C:Well, they're not doing.
Speaker A:Go ahead and roll your.
Speaker A:Roll your power for me, please.
Speaker C:Happening right now is part of the course.
Speaker D:My power?
Speaker A:Yes, please.
Speaker D:I succeeded.
Speaker A:Your hands are shaking, but you're able to focus and keep your cool.
Speaker A:You hear those helicopter blades overhead, alarmingly close by.
Speaker A:You also hear sirens that seem to come from every direction.
Speaker A:It's taken a very long time for maps to load, a very long time.
Speaker A:And you are becoming increasingly agitated as you wait for it to narrow in on your location and provide even the little search field for you to begin typing.
Speaker A:Finally, it loads up entirely and you curse the OS designer.
Speaker A:You look around and start scrolling with your fingers, looking for the nearest highway that might have an overpass.
Speaker A:You're not very familiar with Detroit, but you, you know west of here is the more built up, more metropolitan area, urban area of the city.
Speaker A:And you start searching around and yeah, before long you see what might be based off the satellite image, an overpass.
Speaker A:You go ahead and drop a pin and you yell at Romeo.
Speaker A:After what seems like an excruciatingly long amount of time, you yell at Romeo to take a left back towards the cruise house.
Speaker C:Okay, you want me to roll a drive here to at any point let me know.
Speaker C:But yeah, I'll take that left.
Speaker A:Yeah, I've got that in the back of my head.
Speaker A:Okay, drive is not going to help you take a left.
Speaker C:No, I know that.
Speaker A:Or make a decision here.
Speaker A:So if you want to follow his instructions, which will take you potentially back close towards the cruise house, you can do so.
Speaker A:Or you can continue blindly navigating the suburb.
Speaker C:I will follow his dope ass instructions.
Speaker A:You take a left and before long you can even see now overhead that there is a police helicopter in the air circling the area you are driving toward.
Speaker A:You also see flashing lights cresting over the horizon as you approach the street won over from the crew's household.
Speaker C:What's it say, Lenny?
Speaker D:I look down to see if there's another way, like a grade alternate, similar ETA direction.
Speaker A:No, but there is a way through what looks like a creek bed.
Speaker A:Maybe this vehicle can do that.
Speaker A:You're just not sure.
Speaker A:You're not familiar with this area.
Speaker A:You don't know how steep it might be.
Speaker A:If it's lined with concrete, you don't know.
Speaker A:But it could be a way behind some of these houses and closer towards the route to the, to the.
Speaker A:What might be an overpass.
Speaker D:I look at.
Speaker D:We could go off road.
Speaker D:There's a creek bed up ahead.
Speaker D:I think that maybe we could try Guide me.
Speaker D:Lenny gives them the directions.
Speaker A:As you drive in this direction, you come to what is a dead end.
Speaker A:A street that ends at a guardrail with yellow reflective signs.
Speaker A:Beyond that is what looks like an overgrown Pathway.
Speaker A:This appears to be the creek bed that Lyney spotted from the satellite view.
Speaker D:That would be it.
Speaker C:All right.
Speaker D:Is the guardrail totally blocking the ability for the car?
Speaker A:It is, yeah.
Speaker D:So, okay, so the only way out of this neighborhood, as I'm understanding it, is we.
Speaker D:So everything past the cruise house, the direction we went, is just one cul de sac.
Speaker D:There is no other way out is what you're saying.
Speaker A:You do not see a.
Speaker A:A way through that would be quick.
Speaker D:That doesn't.
Speaker A:From what you're looking at.
Speaker A:That is correct, yeah.
Speaker A:I didn't offer up any other potential routes by car.
Speaker D:We could go on foot.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker C:Romeo takes his go bag, pulls out his thermos that he keeps kerosene in, dumps it out on the console of the vehicle and lights it.
Speaker C:As he exits the vehicle and says, get the fuck out of here.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:It sparks up immediately and begins melting the vinyl and plastic of the dashboard, causing thick black smoke to begin curling out of the open doors.
Speaker A:As you both quickly jog away from the car, black smoke begins lifting up into the evening sky.
Speaker A:Sun's still above the horizon.
Speaker A:Very, very dark smoke.
Speaker D:So, Chris, I've never really used like.
Speaker D:So I do have, like, stealth skills.
Speaker D:I've never really used those before.
Speaker D:So you might need to help me a little bit just to make sure, like stealth and search and stuff just to help me navigate this.
Speaker D:But Lenny's going to.
Speaker D:Basically.
Speaker D:I assume we're running down into the creek bed area, which sounds overgrown, so I'm imagining trees, bushes, like a.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:So beyond the guardrail, you have very thick bushes.
Speaker A:Below this growth, you can see a thin trickle of water on what look like unsteady slab, like stones.
Speaker A:Now, again, the brush is quite thick.
Speaker A:We're not dealing with any real trees in the middle of this.
Speaker A:Let's call it a ditch more than a creek.
Speaker A:Creek.
Speaker A:It's just got some moisture in it.
Speaker A:The trees are on either side of this, branching out and creating a measure of COVID from above.
Speaker A:But down the middle is just very thick brush that's going to be hard to move through.
Speaker C:All right, let's do this.
Speaker D:So we make for the trees and start moving.
Speaker A:I'm going to get now to Agent Ryan.
Speaker A:After making your announcement to the team, making a final straighten to your necktie, you strode out the back door, through the sun room, past the punching bag, into the unkempt backyard of the Cruise family.
Speaker A:Here.
Speaker A:You immediately saw that, well, the backyard's very small, enclosed by a rusty chain link fence.
Speaker A:It's only about 4ft high.
Speaker A:What do you do?
Speaker A:Where do you go?
Speaker A:You hear sirens, you think from the north?
Speaker A:It's hard to tell there.
Speaker A:The sound's kind of echoing and reverberating on the sides of the houses here.
Speaker B:I'm gonna do a look around to see.
Speaker B:See if I can see anybody.
Speaker B:And I'm not spending a lot of time doing this but glancing at, you know, windows and anything to see if there's anyone around to see me.
Speaker A:Yeah, you do a quick scan, you know, kind of searching for anybody who might be peeking out from behind curtains or over privacy fences farther down the.
Speaker A:Down the block.
Speaker A:Go ahead and roll your search.
Speaker B:I failed.
Speaker A:You don't spot anyone who might be watching your egress.
Speaker B:Okay, and then is this the kind of neighborhood where behind this house is the back of another house and then that's on the street?
Speaker B:Does that make sense what I'm describing?
Speaker A:I know exactly what you're asking, and the answer is yes.
Speaker B:Like a grid.
Speaker A:So you're peering now into someone else's backyard over this four foot high chain link fence.
Speaker A:This one has an old ramshackle wooden swing set in it and what looks like a large old kitchen sink back here that someone has just thrown, which is overgrown, covered with grime.
Speaker B:I'm going to just run around this house out to the other street.
Speaker B:I'm going to start striding along the street and I assume that there are cars parked in the street, walk past them and shut doors until one opens this.
Speaker A:This street has houses that are a little bit closer together than the cruise families street.
Speaker A:There's not a lot of parking, so there are lots of cars on lawns and crowded on the street itself and.
Speaker A:Sorry, what did you say you were going to try doing?
Speaker B:I'm just trying to look as casual as I can, but walking past cars, say on the.
Speaker B:The street side, not the sidewalk side.
Speaker B:Just try doors quickly as I walk past each one until the vehicles.
Speaker A:The vehicle stores.
Speaker B:The vehicle stores.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:Throw me.
Speaker A:Throw me a luck.
Speaker B:Critical success.
Speaker C:Holy shit.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's a good time to roll a critical success, isn't it, Ryan?
Speaker B:Holy shit.
Speaker A:It's a big blue Chevy Blazer.
Speaker A:Navy blue.
Speaker A:That door's wide open.
Speaker A:It's the second one you check, actually.
Speaker A:It's partially parked in the, in the strip of lawn next to the street here.
Speaker A:So it's kind of up on two of its wheels a little bit, a little unbalanced, but yeah, doors open.
Speaker B:Ryan's not a fan of blue, so he keeps going.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:Don't get in that piece of shit.
Speaker B:Yeah, there's a Ryan hops in, closes.
Speaker A:There's a bins right next to it.
Speaker A:That one's open too.
Speaker B:No, I'm joking.
Speaker B:He's gonna do the Chevy Blazer, hops in, close the door, hot water to the car to start it.
Speaker A:You're gonna hotwire the car.
Speaker A:You know how to do that?
Speaker B:Oh, do I know how to do that?
Speaker B:Roll me criminology.
Speaker A:Actually it's gonna.
Speaker A:Do you have craft electronics or craft mechanics?
Speaker A:Either would either I'm hypothetical as I.
Speaker B:Didn'T understand how to find out if I did.
Speaker A:You look at your character sheet.
Speaker B:That.
Speaker C:Says literally, it would be an additional skill.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:See what you got here?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:This is not my criminology side.
Speaker B:That's, that's why I was thinking that I could do that because my criminology.
Speaker A:I'm actually okay with using criminology here, but it's going to be at a significant detriment.
Speaker A:Give me just a second.
Speaker A:I want to, I want to do that right, because we're kind of a situation.
Speaker B:Any chance there's keys in the car?
Speaker C:Well, that's the first thing you do is you always check.
Speaker B:Are there keys in the car?
Speaker A:Where are you checking?
Speaker B:I'll check in the cup holders.
Speaker B:I'll open the middle console and the, the visor and then the little thing in the door, the little like side.
Speaker A:Door driver's keys fall off of the sun visor onto your lap.
Speaker B:Oh, wonderful.
Speaker B:That critical success.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker A:You're 100% correct.
Speaker A:So, okay, the engine turns over quickly, you start the car, no problems at all.
Speaker A:It's a little bit of a gout of dark smoke that comes out of the muffler, but otherwise sounds all right.
Speaker B:Cool.
Speaker B:So I back up.
Speaker A:Actually, before you watch, I'm gonna interrupt you.
Speaker A:You watch a very quick moving police chopper scream overhead towards the cruise house right over you.
Speaker A:Seems to be going more in a southerly direction.
Speaker B:Okay, I'm gonna pull open Google Maps, head in a northerly direction.
Speaker A:So you're basically looking for a spot to pin somewhere northerly.
Speaker B:Not necessarily looking for a spot to pin.
Speaker B:I'm just like, I'm opening it up so you can see, hey, this is where I am.
Speaker B:You know, if, if I see a dead end further down the street, you know, I would be able to.
Speaker B:You, I mean, you look, you look at the map, right?
Speaker B:I'm not like looking at the map get direction to go somewhere, but I.
Speaker B:It sounds like this is a gridded Neighborhood.
Speaker B:So you don't want to go to Gwichin.
Speaker C:You specifically are just trying to find a way out.
Speaker B:Yeah, I'm just trying to find.
Speaker B:Honestly, more than anything, I'm trying to find a way away.
Speaker A:You go ahead and back up and you do.
Speaker A:You do see that there are quite a few cul de sacs here.
Speaker A:You're kind of in a bad spot, but you think if you go a little bit closer to the cruise house and take a right to the north, you'll.
Speaker A:You'll be able to get out of this subdivision.
Speaker B:Okay, I'm fine with that, but I'm going to drive at a five miles over the speed limit pace, so.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:Not a suspicious speed.
Speaker A:Going to 35 miles per hour in this residential area.
Speaker A:As you drive out of this particular subdivision, about seven police cars in a line, all with their lights and sirens blaring, roar past you.
Speaker A:Before long, with them disappearing in your rear view mirror, you find yourself headed towards the skyline of Detroit.
Speaker A:As the sun begins to dip below.
Speaker B:The horizon, as the cars drive by, Ryan hears the tiny squeak of his tightening butthole.
Speaker A:Cannot wait to get the Foley going for that.
Speaker C:He has got a full soundboard just of those sounds.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker B:From actual source, from actual buttholes, it's.
Speaker C:Called balloonnot.org.org to nonprofits.
Speaker C:Well, it's a very important thing.
Speaker C:Service to provide for the people.
Speaker B:Oh, that's so funny.
Speaker C:I'm gonna actually look that up real quick.
Speaker B:Is it still this still on Ryan, or are we cutting away?
Speaker A:We're cutting away to Agent Roizen now.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:That's exciting.
Speaker E:Uh oh.
Speaker E:And here, people, is where it all goes wrong, Royzin.
Speaker C:It's been going wrong.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Here's where that starts.
Speaker A:You were thinking about the day that you left your village for the first time.
Speaker A:You were groomed and chosen really, to become a field operative with the Israel Defense Force.
Speaker A:And you remember your father was saying something to you, encouraging, but you could tell he didn't entirely approve.
Speaker A:Your brother was hugging you, telling you that you were going to succeed no matter what, that you were the one in the family who was going to finally kind of break out of the small village that she grew up in.
Speaker A:And as you relive this day, you realize that you're holding a fork, looking down.
Speaker A:It looks like a half finished plate of maybe cheesecake or key lime pie.
Speaker A:You're not sure.
Speaker A:You look around, you're in an ihop.
Speaker A:It's quite busy.
Speaker A:Waitstaff is buzzing, clinking glasses, chatter from your neighbors and adjoining booths.
Speaker A:Fill the air.
Speaker A:You feel like, yes, you've been here for a little while, but you're a little bit disconcerted because you're not sure how long or where everybody else is.
Speaker A:You know, you left them, but you needed to leave them.
Speaker A:It was important that you be alone for a little while and have some time to yourself.
Speaker A:You feel a little anxiety welling up in your chest for a moment, which you quickly and expertly squash down something you're used to doing, something you've been trained to do.
Speaker A:You start taking stock of the things that you can.
Speaker A:It's around 6:30pm Sun's down.
Speaker A:Obviously the other agents aren't here.
Speaker A:You feel around.
Speaker A:You've got your weapon, your firearm, you've got your phone and computer.
Speaker A:What do you do, Agent Royson?
Speaker E:The first thing she's going to do is check her phone, see if there's any messages.
Speaker A:Answer is no.
Speaker E:All right.
Speaker E:Does she remember why she ran?
Speaker A:It was important to get out of there.
Speaker A:You needed some time to yourself.
Speaker A:The agents needed to handle that on their own.
Speaker E:She's going to open up the group text message and just send out a quick, you know, call for everyone to check in.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I'll need to shift the camera from your scene and return back to Agent Romeo and Lenny Hargrave.
Speaker A:You both are struggling to move through this thick foliage and unfortunately footing is fairly unstable due to the slab like configuration of these creek stones and the algae filled waters below.
Speaker D:Oh, sorry, I thought we went for the trees along the creek so we'd have cover or did I miss you.
Speaker A:Have cover in the center of the trench.
Speaker A:I did not catch that at all.
Speaker A:But there is cover on the entire trench.
Speaker D:Oh, okay, gotcha.
Speaker A:If you, if you're trying to like hang onto the steep creek bank, that's going to be really difficult.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker A:I mean we can do that if you'd rather.
Speaker D:No, no, I just didn't understand the exact setup, but that's fine.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:We've got branches overhanging this creek trench.
Speaker D:Cool.
Speaker A:On either side of this thick foliage, this thicket that runs down the middle.
Speaker A:You both continue.
Speaker C:Romeo's gonna wash his hands in the stream as he makes his way along.
Speaker A:It's quite disgusting.
Speaker A:Very shallow, algae filled.
Speaker A:Better than water.
Speaker A:Okay, no problem.
Speaker A:So you're gonna take a moment to start doing that.
Speaker A:What you hear behind you is vehicles with loud sirens approaching, stopping and you can hear police radios now.
Speaker A:You are a little bit lower now in this foliage filled trench than eyeline from where you left the vehicle.
Speaker A:But you're not very far beyond it.
Speaker A:Above you again, you hear the reverberating blades of a police chopper circling overhead.
Speaker A:Now seemingly trained on this area, you both can't help but to glance back towards the way you just came running down the steep side into this trench to start making your escape.
Speaker A:And you can see the black smoke of your vehicle, like a beacon in the sky, cresting up towards the clouds.
Speaker A:What would you like to do?
Speaker C:Continue on?
Speaker D:Yeah, we literally can only go forward or backward, right?
Speaker D:Is there any other.
Speaker A:Yes, there's.
Speaker A:Oh, there's other things to do, obviously.
Speaker A:But if you're talking about, like, which directions to go.
Speaker A:Yes, you could go back towards where it sounds like the police have arrived just very recently.
Speaker A:Or you could continue through the foliage towards what you know, Lenny, is another residential street that leads out of this subdivision.
Speaker D:Like, around us are the creek banks.
Speaker D:And then, I'm guessing, like tall fences for people's backyards.
Speaker D:Is that right?
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:There's a privacy fence on your right side and a lower 4 foot tall chain link fence on your left side.
Speaker A:Both lead into what look like residential backyards.
Speaker D:Can we see the exit away from the police?
Speaker D:Because, you know, we can only go forward or backwards, it sounds like, or unless we jump a fence.
Speaker D:But can we see the exit from where we are?
Speaker C:What exit are you imagining?
Speaker D:No, no, like the.
Speaker D:The next street, basically, where this thing empties out.
Speaker A:Yes, you can, you can see down this creek bed.
Speaker A:You can see that there's another steep climb up a hill towards another guardrail on that side and a street.
Speaker A:You actually see cars parked beyond.
Speaker A:Now, it's a good clip away.
Speaker A:It's about a block and a half's worth, but you can absolutely see that visibly.
Speaker D:Do we see any, like, sewer entrances as we're moving down this creek?
Speaker A:No.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker D:Lenny looks over it at Roisin, but he keeps moving forward.
Speaker C:Well, Roizen's not there, so Lenny can't see her.
Speaker D:Oh, sorry.
Speaker E:When did you turn into psychic?
Speaker D:Looks over.
Speaker A:Roisin's always astrally projecting for Lenny.
Speaker C:Lenny just wargs right into him, encouraging him.
Speaker D:Lenny looks at the waiter and says, I'll have the breakfast sampler, please.
Speaker A:Fry it, please.
Speaker A:I need it deep fried.
Speaker D:Deep fried.
Speaker D:No.
Speaker D:Lenny just looks over at Romeo but keeps moving for the street at the end.
Speaker C:Yeah, Romeo does the same.
Speaker C:He makes for the street.
Speaker A:Both of you, please roll your alertness.
Speaker A:Minus 20%.
Speaker D:Yeah, I failed.
Speaker C:I got a success.
Speaker A:As you both are doing your best to hike it through this.
Speaker A:This thick foliage, your toe meets With a half buried round concrete circle.
Speaker A:Your eyes cast downward to see what's stopped your trek here.
Speaker A:And you do see what looks like the upper portion of some sort of drainage entryway.
Speaker A:The top of it again is overgrown, but it is crisscrossed with oxidized rebar.
Speaker A:You actually can hear, now that you're focused upon it, you can hear water far below in the darkness beyond this crisscross rebar trickling somewhere.
Speaker A:It's about wide enough for a couple of folks to shimmy down.
Speaker A:At the same time, you, you do see beyond the rebar grid, more rebar sticking out of the side leading into the darkness down into the ground.
Speaker C:All right, we've got our way out of here.
Speaker C:Let's, let's get in there.
Speaker D:Then he looks over and.
Speaker D:Do you need help pull?
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker D:What am I trying to say?
Speaker D:Do you say that like loudly or just.
Speaker C:He said it's like loud enough, he thinks for you to hear it like kind of under his breath, not whispering because that's usually louder than actually talking quietly.
Speaker D:Lenny looks up and goes, oh, thank fuck, let's get in there.
Speaker D:And starts helping to grabbing at the COVID to try and pull it up.
Speaker A:It becomes quickly obvious to both of you that this rebar grid is latched shut.
Speaker A:You start moving some of this thick underbrush aside and you find what looks like a very old lock.
Speaker A:That is fascinating.
Speaker A:This heavy lid in place with its bottom concrete and iron studded ring, it looks quite hefty.
Speaker A:It does have a keyhole though.
Speaker A:It is very rusty.
Speaker D:I'm trying to see what the skill would be for lock pick, but it'd be locked.
Speaker A:It would be craft locksmith.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker A:Or special.
Speaker A:There's a special training called lock picking.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker D:I don't have ideas.
Speaker D:Do you think we could break it open?
Speaker C:I mean it is pretty rusty, but be loud.
Speaker D:I don't have a key.
Speaker D:I don't know what other option we have.
Speaker A:You check your inventory.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You didn't pick up, you didn't pick up old rusty key in the last scene.
Speaker E:So.
Speaker C:Yeah, dang it.
Speaker C:And they were right there, weren't they?
Speaker A:Yeah, of course.
Speaker A:The basilisk had him around its neck.
Speaker A:You just walked by the basilisk.
Speaker A:I mean, it's up to you guys.
Speaker B:What's the last letter on that word for you, Chris?
Speaker A:It's definitely not the right one that would traditionally be found at the end of that word.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker C:So yeah, looking at my inventory, I don't have anything that would be useful towards picking a lot.
Speaker C:So we're Left with attempting to pry or smash it open.
Speaker D:Lenny grabs.
Speaker D:Lenny has a small knife, jams it in the hole to see if he can wiggle it around and get lucky.
Speaker A:You're trying to pick the lock with your pocket knife, is that correct?
Speaker D:Yeah, just real quick.
Speaker D:Just.
Speaker D:I'm gonna hope for luck.
Speaker D:Maybe it's a piece of shit.
Speaker A:It's gonna be.
Speaker A:It's gonna be me rolling something.
Speaker A:Okay, so give me a moment.
Speaker B:Like they say in golf, get in the hole and.
Speaker A:Is that what they say?
Speaker A:And then.
Speaker C:Yeah, I've never golf.
Speaker A:And then you.
Speaker A:Now, Lenny, you need to go ahead and roll a dexterity times five, minus 40%.
Speaker B:A lot of percentage.
Speaker C:Make a nice sweet prayer to nodens and damn.
Speaker A:Lenny, you go ahead and force the end of your pocket knife into this rusty lock.
Speaker A:You wiggle it around for a little while as Romeo agitatedly looks on.
Speaker A:You can now hear voices shouting from the direction of your burning vehicle.
Speaker A:You're unable to dislodge this lock from any sort of.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's.
Speaker A:It's just staying fast.
Speaker D:Look around for like a.
Speaker D:Is there like a metal bar, like a thick piece of wood that we could use as like kind of a.
Speaker D:No, like a crowbar pry or something?
Speaker A:Nothing obvious.
Speaker A:Maybe if you ran up the steep creek side and went into one of the homes, you could find something.
Speaker A:But you don't see anything lying around conveniently here in the creek bed adding.
Speaker C:Some more charges to your arrest.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker C:Romeo starts to take on a panicked look in his eyes, looks around and just says, help me pull as hard as you can and squats down and like pulls up.
Speaker C:And that's going to be his last ditch effort here.
Speaker A:You're going to try to muscle it, Is that correct?
Speaker C:Physically muscle it.
Speaker D:Lenny grabs and starts trying to muscle it with him.
Speaker A:Got it.
Speaker A:You both plant your feet on this.
Speaker A:On the side of this concrete ring and start pulling against this rusted lock that's holding this heavy lid in place.
Speaker A:The lid itself is already quite heavy with all that oxidized iron.
Speaker A:Pulling against this mechanical lock is very, very difficult, not impossible.
Speaker C:Romeo is going to do the old glute squeeze to really kick it up a notch here.
Speaker A:Is there a squeak?
Speaker A:Yeah, there's going to be a Foley sound for that too.
Speaker A:Sound like a rubber band snapping.
Speaker A:Okay, so I need you.
Speaker A:I'm sorry, the character with the lowest strength.
Speaker A:Who is that?
Speaker C:Interesting question.
Speaker C:Romeo.
Speaker B:Calling them out.
Speaker B:Calling them out.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:You both have 10.
Speaker A:I should have said the character with the highest strength.
Speaker A:That's my.
Speaker A:That's my bad.
Speaker A:So the character with the highest strength, which in this case is neither of you, you're both about as average as it comes.
Speaker A:Let's see who has the highest athletics.
Speaker B:Please be even.
Speaker B:That would be so funny.
Speaker C:Fucking guarantee you got a.
Speaker C:What do you got?
Speaker C:I also have a 30.
Speaker B:Oh, my gosh.
Speaker B:That's the best.
Speaker A:It is the best.
Speaker A:Are you destroying who has the highest con?
Speaker B:Hey, Chris, it sounds like they.
Speaker B:Open this fucking door.
Speaker D:There we go.
Speaker D:I've got it.
Speaker D:I've got a 10.
Speaker D:He's got 11.
Speaker D:There you go.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Holy shit.
Speaker A:You guys are physically very average humans.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:Male.
Speaker A:Human.
Speaker C:So physically speaking.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:Romeo, you will now roll your strength minus 40%.
Speaker C:Let's do this.
Speaker C:Let's.
Speaker C:I'm feeling lucky.
Speaker C:Google failure.
Speaker A:As you both strain and grunt in the failing light of the evening beams, flashlight beams soon scatter from where you left your vehicle across the foliage, and then upon you, you hear someone yell from that direction.
Speaker A:Both kind of look up.
Speaker A:Your eyes wide.
Speaker A:It's hard to hear now because the whirling blades of the helicopter, they're right above you.
Speaker A:A giant spotlight shines down, illuminating this area.
Speaker C:Time to run.
Speaker A:I mean, you just tell me which.
Speaker A:Do you tell Lyney that?
Speaker A:Or do you.
Speaker A:Do you run?
Speaker C:Oh, yeah, no, he.
Speaker C:Romero doesn't even say anything.
Speaker C:He just bolts.
Speaker A:You start making your way through this high foliage and you roll a dexterity.
Speaker A:Actually roll your athletics success.
Speaker A:You.
Speaker A:You go ahead and start sprinting as fast as you can through this thick underbrush.
Speaker A:Running through this thicket, narrowly avoiding tripping when your heel snags in a crevice between slabs of stone.
Speaker A:Lenny, he just starts taking off.
Speaker A:What do you do?
Speaker A:You're now fully illuminated.
Speaker D:Oh, the.
Speaker D:The helicopter light is on me as well.
Speaker A:It's on both of you?
Speaker A:That is correct.
Speaker D:Well, he just.
Speaker D:He's running away from me.
Speaker D:So they can't.
Speaker D:Can't be on both of us, right?
Speaker A:This is within a split second.
Speaker A:So he's not appreciable distance away from you.
Speaker C:Mayo doesn't even say anything to you.
Speaker C:Just like deer in headlights.
Speaker C:Eyes and bolts.
Speaker D:Gotcha.
Speaker A:And remember, this is not asphalt.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:It's really hard for him to move quickly, but he's doing the best he can.
Speaker D:Lenny runs too.
Speaker D:Runs after him.
Speaker C:God damn it, Lenny.
Speaker A:Roll your athletics, please.
Speaker D:Oh, success.
Speaker D:There you go.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You start sprinting after him again.
Speaker A:The footing is fairly unstable, but you're able to maintain your mid sprint.
Speaker A:And you both start hiking through as fast as you can.
Speaker A:You Hear someone yelling from behind you.
Speaker A:And you hear even.
Speaker A:Even above the whirling blades that are right overhead, you hear a gunshot.
Speaker D:They're shooting at us.
Speaker D:We didn't shoot at them.
Speaker D:Why would they be shooting at us?
Speaker C:Because we're armed and dangerous.
Speaker A:Yeah, you can definitely ask yourself that as you run.
Speaker A:What would you like to do, though?
Speaker D:How close to the street, the exit street, are we now?
Speaker A:So it looks like this culvert cover or drain cover or whatever it was that you didn't get a chance to enter was in the middle of this ditch between streets.
Speaker C:Romeo's gonna continue to make his way to that next street, I guess.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker C:Yeah, got it.
Speaker D:I'm gonna keep riding this athletic road and keep running.
Speaker A:Romeo, you feel the entire left side of your.
Speaker A:Your body go numb and you fall into the thicket face first into this algae filled trickle of a creek.
Speaker C:Romeo checks his left side to see what happened.
Speaker A:It's pretty dim light, but thankfully the spotlight overhead soon illuminates you completely.
Speaker A:You're not sure, but it's like your entire left side is just not functioning.
Speaker A:It's so confusing to you.
Speaker A:Your mind is racing trying to figure out what happened, but you cannot move your left leg.
Speaker A:You're on the ground, Lenny.
Speaker A:You watch Romeo just collapse in front of you.
Speaker A:The sound of the whirling blades is all encompassing now.
Speaker C:Romeo says, go.
Speaker D:Lenny attempts to keep running and finds cover as best he can.
Speaker C:Romeo draws his gun.
Speaker A:Romeo.
Speaker A:Everything goes black.
Speaker A:Lenny.
Speaker A:Everything goes black.
Speaker A:Ryan.
Speaker A:You find yourself in the city and you're sort of by habit, making your way back towards the hotel when you kind of realize maybe not the best idea.
Speaker A:And you get a text message from Roisin.
Speaker A:She's asking you to check in.
Speaker B:I'm gonna call her.
Speaker A:All right, let's do it.
Speaker A:Go for it, you two.
Speaker B:Hey, where are you?
Speaker A:Ihop.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:How'd you get to an ihop?
Speaker E:Uh, your guess is as good as mine.
Speaker B:Um.
Speaker B:Oh, okay.
Speaker B:I split from Romeo and Lenny.
Speaker B:Is there anyone around you?
Speaker B:Are there cops around you or anything?
Speaker B:Or, you know, does it seem like you.
Speaker B:You're pretty low key right now.
Speaker C:She's having the silver dollar menu.
Speaker C:Everything's cool.
Speaker E:Yeah, I'll go ahead.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Rosen, you look down at your half half finished piece.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You don't feel like anybody's watching you?
Speaker E:I have pie, so I think we're good.
Speaker B:Or at least okay.
Speaker B:I think we need to go to ground.
Speaker B:Truth be told, this is Detroit.
Speaker B:While that was a pretty gruesome scene, I think if we Lay low for.
Speaker B:Honestly, even just a few days, I imagine it'll pass.
Speaker B:What do you think?
Speaker E:Yeah, we definitely need to go to ground.
Speaker E:Have you heard from the other two yet?
Speaker B:I haven't, no.
Speaker B:No, I haven't.
Speaker E:All right, I'm going to give it another hour.
Speaker E:If we don't hear from them, we need to ditch these phones.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's probably a good call.
Speaker B:I'm going to give Snedger a call as well.
Speaker B:I'll let you know what he says.
Speaker E:All right, don't text, call.
Speaker B:Will do.
Speaker E:All right, talk to you.
Speaker B:Ryan's going to hang up and call Snedger.
Speaker A:After three rings, phone is quickly picked up.
Speaker A:This is not normal for this line.
Speaker A:Usually feels like it goes through several routing stations.
Speaker A:There's a lot of clicking, but this is picked up pretty quickly.
Speaker A:Agent Ryan.
Speaker A:Just.
Speaker A:Just getting ready to find a spot to give you a call.
Speaker A:Are you in a secure area?
Speaker B:Yes, I'm in a car.
Speaker B:By myself.
Speaker A:Yeah, I've been doing a little digging on my end, and I.
Speaker A:I thought you might be interested in what I've uncovered.
Speaker B:Go ahead.
Speaker A:Ryan's like, let's hear it.
Speaker A:Okay, cool.
Speaker B:Why wouldn't I be?
Speaker A:Well, because it's possible that.
Speaker B:What's a few minutes?
Speaker A:The police are about to kick.
Speaker C:Ryan's fine.
Speaker B:I'm driving around.
Speaker B:I made my way downtown.
Speaker B:I walked fast.
Speaker B:Faces past.
Speaker C:He's on his way to ihop.
Speaker C:You can't have a bad.
Speaker B:I'm homebound.
Speaker C:Everybody knows that.
Speaker A:You can't get more secure than ihop.
Speaker C:You're correct.
Speaker B:All right, so.
Speaker B:Yeah, well, I'm driving around, so I figured.
Speaker B:I figured.
Speaker B:That's reasonable.
Speaker A:No, he's good.
Speaker A:No, no, he's good.
Speaker A:He's good.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Roll your fucking knife.
Speaker A:So I.
Speaker A:I found a personnel request.
Speaker A:By the looks of it, that's about the only reference to anything I've found so far that could be related to a cell f.
Speaker A:Now, it's from 87, so I realize we're talking about ancient history here, but maybe you and your team can piece something together from it.
Speaker A:I'll.
Speaker A:I'll send it your way when we're done here.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's gonna have to wait.
Speaker B:Things went a bit south.
Speaker B:Things went a bit south here.
Speaker B:I'm split from the rest of the team.
Speaker B:Sounds like Roizen's in somewhat decent shape.
Speaker B:Not sure about Romeo or that new friendly Lenny.
Speaker B:We need to probably hang low for a little bit.
Speaker B:Is there a safe house you guys have in Detroit?
Speaker B:Otherwise, I'll see what I Can do.
Speaker A:Wait a second.
Speaker A:Okay, hold on.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:So you are.
Speaker A:Tell me exactly what.
Speaker A:What happened?
Speaker B:Things went south.
Speaker B:What do you.
Speaker A:Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Speaker A:Get the hell out of the city as quickly as you can.
Speaker A:Go ahead and hole up in a piece of shit motel.
Speaker A:Give me a call and I'll do what I can for my end.
Speaker B:Okay?
Speaker A:He hangs, he hangs up.
Speaker E:You forgot to let him know you wouldn't call from different.
Speaker B:I guess that's true, but I mean then I'll.
Speaker B:Let me, let me, let me do this.
Speaker B:Actually, I'm going to.
Speaker B:We don't have to play this out if you.
Speaker B:We can if we want.
Speaker B:But basically I want to call Royson to get exactly like what IHOP are you at and then head that way.
Speaker A:She gives you the location, not a problem.
Speaker E:And then asks what you want.
Speaker B:Yeah, and then I'm going to say put your phone on airplane mode.
Speaker B:I feel like that.
Speaker B:Doesn't that stop it tracking?
Speaker A:No, no.
Speaker B:Or just turning it off?
Speaker E:No.
Speaker E:You need to destroy the phone.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker B:I'm going to write down Sener's number and then I'll ditch the phone.
Speaker A:You break it in half, crush the SIM card and make your way to IH it's been about four days now.
Speaker A:Ryan Roizen.
Speaker A:You are getting very tired of one another.
Speaker A:You have been in a small single story motel called the Townhouse Motel, which is good way south southwesterly of Detroit in a small cigarette butt sized town called Kunkle.
Speaker A:K U N K L E.
Speaker A:Is.
Speaker D:That a real town?
Speaker A:You've kept the blinds drawn.
Speaker A:Only going out late at night for ice and the vending machine fare under the advisement.
Speaker A:Actually the stern advisement of Snedeker.
Speaker A:But it's now been two days since he last called with an update and you're both getting incredibly antsy.
Speaker B:In our pantsy.
Speaker A:I would say that yeah, it's localized there for sure.
Speaker A:But you know, there are waves.
Speaker B:Localized ants.
Speaker A:Mm, Localized ants.
Speaker A:With only the television set, ancient by all accounts to keep you entertained, it's very easy to understand why you would catch the local news and news from the big city.
Speaker A:One particular story sticks out and you're both there 6:00 tonight to hear it.
Speaker A:Two escaped convicts were caught by Detroit Police Department.
Speaker A:They had holed up in a residence on the north side of Detroit.
Speaker A:They murdered two children in order to try to aid their escape from police who had tracked them down.
Speaker A:Dedicated Detroit detectives who had found their whereabouts through their hard work.
Speaker A:Tragedy is wracking the community, but the viewers are encouraged to Take heart that these convicts have been the course of their deadly escape.
Speaker A:They have been terminated by the police who sought to capture.
Speaker A:Recapture them.
Speaker A:Two mugshots are placed on the side of the screen as the newscaster goes through these details that cause both of your stomachs to knot up a bit.
Speaker A:You don't recognize the men, but the location is unmistakable.
Speaker A:It's the crew's home.
Speaker A:Soon the broadcast changes to a disarmingly happy commercial about a very fizzy soft drink.
Speaker A:And you both have a moment to speak to one another.
Speaker E:Well, shit.
Speaker C:Snedeker came through.
Speaker E:I mean, technically.
Speaker E:I really hope neither of them left behind much family.
Speaker B:So, Ryan, in response to Roizen saying something human and meaningful is going to say.
Speaker B:I hate to say it, but we're not 100% sure the threat is eradicated.
Speaker B:There's still some loose ends on this one.
Speaker E:We've.
Speaker E:We've got to go back.
Speaker E:But I.
Speaker E:I don't know if we can do it with just two of us.
Speaker E:I mean, you've seen what the thing and the kid managed to do.
Speaker E:If this other thing is bigger, we're.
Speaker B:We need to find out.
Speaker E:We do.
Speaker A:There is a knock on the motel door.
Speaker A:Both of you start up.
Speaker A:Your eyes are wide, the hair raising on the backs of your necks.
Speaker B:Ryan's gonna grab his gun.
Speaker E:Ryan's.
Speaker E:Royzen's gonna pull hers too.
Speaker E:Hold it behind her back, make sure the door is chained.
Speaker E:Motion Ryan against the wall behind the door.
Speaker B:Ryan goes.
Speaker E:And then she's gonna open it just a crack to see who's out there.
Speaker A:There's a man, Caucasian, about six two, well built.
Speaker A:He's wearing a windbreaker and a ball cap that has no logo.
Speaker A:His eyes meet yours.
Speaker A:He's holding a white paper sack in his right hand, but with his left, he raises it a little bit, showing he has nothing in it.
Speaker A:It's Agent Snedgar.
Speaker A:Thought you could use some grub.
Speaker A:Some real grub.
Speaker A:Can I come in?
Speaker E:Sure.
Speaker E:Don't turn to Ryan.
Speaker E:It's Snedgar.
Speaker E:Let me unchain the door for you.
Speaker B:Yeah, sounds like it.
Speaker B:I recognize the voice.
Speaker B:So that's where the confidence that he's not somebody else comes in.
Speaker A:You're.
Speaker A:You're both now ravenously eating fast food hamburgers.
Speaker A:Not something that maybe you particularly enjoy usually, but right now, after a constant stream of Funyuns and Snickers bars, it's ambrosia.
Speaker A:Snedegar patiently waits until you both seem rather sated.
Speaker A:He looks somber, solemn and begins to speak.
Speaker A:Agents, Romeo, Lenny, Hargrave.
Speaker A:They did make it.
Speaker A:I've done what I can.
Speaker A:Program has done what it can to take care of who they left behind.
Speaker A:But in the course of their attempt to leave what was the crew's residence.
Speaker A:He looks at both of you for a moment and pauses.
Speaker A:They were gunned down by Detroit pd.
Speaker A:He again pauses, perhaps a moment of silence, takes a deep breath.
Speaker A:I also have some additional bad news, sir.
Speaker A:You're a girl named.
Speaker A:Sorry, girl named June.
Speaker A:June Talton.
Speaker A:Student at the prep school.
Speaker A:In your report that you sent to me, was found in the school pool, missing her head.
Speaker A:The school has been closed now for two days.
Speaker A:These details are being kept from the press.
Speaker A:Faculty members that are aware are under watch.
Speaker A:But we believe that there is a continuing threat out there.
Speaker A:I believe that corresponds with some of the hypotheses you both put in your report to me.
Speaker E:Yes, sir.
Speaker A:So I'm here in person because I wanted to look you both in the eyes to ask you this, and because you are truly the most well equipped agents we have in the program to make this call.
Speaker A:But can you continue the operation?
Speaker E:We started it.
Speaker E:We'll finish it.
Speaker B:How did they know it was her?
Speaker B:Did they find the head?
Speaker A:He shakes his head.
Speaker A:He looks down.
Speaker A:I assume it was some forensics connection.
Speaker A:I don't have the details with me.
Speaker A:I'm really here to really gauge how you're doing.
Speaker A:I know it's a big hit knowing that your fellow agents are no longer with us, that they have sacrificed for the mission.
Speaker A:And I want to ensure that you understand what the program is asking of you now.
Speaker A:To continue to stay in the field, to see this thing through.
Speaker A:If you don't feel like you can.
Speaker A:I understand.
Speaker A:Just tell me.
Speaker A:We'll send you home.
Speaker A:Get another team out here.
Speaker E:I didn't know the kid well, but I worked with we long enough that I'll finish this.
Speaker E:He wouldn't want us to leave it undone.
Speaker B:Same.
Speaker B:Do you have an address of this girl's parents?
Speaker B:I guess maybe we start there.
Speaker E:We've got a last name.
Speaker E:I can find it if we need to.
Speaker A:Yeah, I don't think that information will be difficult to suss out.
Speaker A:I do have an issue, though, with you, Agent Royson.
Speaker A:Your face and likeness has been communicated to Detroit PD as a person of interest in the murders of Andy and Roy Cruz.
Speaker A:Although an APB is out on you right now, I have it on good authority that the detectives who are looking for you as part of this case will soon be diverted.
Speaker A:His eyebrows raised meaningfully.
Speaker A:That being Said need you to take some precautions if you reenter the city in order to be seen publicly.
Speaker A:Do you take my meaning?
Speaker E:Yes, sir.
Speaker E:Don't be recognized.
Speaker A:He nods.
Speaker A:Kind of looks down as he does so.
Speaker A:I want to make sure that we don't have a repeat.
Speaker A:I and Director of Operations man, and we both think that whatever is continuing to ply its unnatural trade on the young populace of Detroit believe it to be extremely dangerous.
Speaker A:I think that goes without saying, especially with your corroboratory details.
Speaker A:We want to make sure that you have as much support as you need.
Speaker A:So something we typically don't ask, but we are doing so because of extenuating circumstances here.
Speaker A:Who do you need to finish this thing, Agents?
Speaker E:We need somebody good with demolitions.
Speaker E:I have no doubt we're going to have to take out a tunnel or two.
Speaker E:Ryan.
Speaker E:I know we need at least one more person.
Speaker E:What do you recommend?
Speaker B:Yeah, demo makes sense.
Speaker B:Someone with field experience.
Speaker B:I mean, how many people can we.
Speaker B:Can we get?
Speaker B:Can we at least get our team back up to.
Speaker B:Up to 2?
Speaker B:He looks over at Royson and says, yeah, we probably should have someone medical with some medical experience as well.
Speaker A:He nods.
Speaker A:Manon and I both agree that this team should stay small, focused.
Speaker A:Shouldn't be turning this over to larger law enforcement just yet.
Speaker A:Based off of what you reported to us about this thing's potential activity, I'll see who I can pull.
Speaker A:In the meantime, once you both stay in here, this location here in Kunkle.
Speaker E:All right.
Speaker E:I do have one more request, sir.
Speaker A:He looks over at you.
Speaker E:If we could get me an ID and a credit card with the name Rachel Smith on it.
Speaker A:He nods slowly.
Speaker A:I think that can be arranged, Agent.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I must say, both of you seem well put together.
Speaker A:And I appreciate your professionalism, your dedication.
Speaker A:It will not go unforgotten or unnoticed.
Speaker A:Your fellow agents made the ultimate sacrifice.
Speaker A:They knew how important this mission is.
Speaker A:And I know you will not let their.
Speaker A:Their martyrdom go to waste.
Speaker A:He stands up.
Speaker A:He holds out his hand to shake either of yours.
Speaker A:It's not really pointed at either of you.
Speaker A:It's kind of just out there.
Speaker E:Horizon.
Speaker E:I'll step forward and shake his hand.
Speaker A:He shakes your hand firmly.
Speaker A:You see something surprising.
Speaker A:His eyes.
Speaker A:They're.
Speaker A:They're not emotionless.
Speaker A:They're quite on the brink of tears.
Speaker A:He looks away when he realizes that you've maybe perceived this.
Speaker A:He says, agents, I'll be in touch.
Speaker A:And he's out the door.
Speaker B:As he goes to leave, Ryan's going to walk behind him.
Speaker B:And kind of put his hand on his shoulder and say, you and I are going to have a conversation when all this is done, and then ushers.
Speaker D:Him out the door.
Speaker A:He doesn't say anything.
Speaker A:He just nods grimly.
Speaker A:The door closes.
