Hello?
Speaker B:What time is it?
Speaker C:Who is it?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker D:I.
Speaker A:Situation.
Speaker A:Dream movie whispers.
Speaker A:Sorry, honey.
Speaker A:I have to take this.
Speaker A:Before long, coffee's in hand.
Speaker A:You four are now walking the relatively pristine corridors and trails of Battery Park.
Speaker A:It is extremely busy even at this time in the morning.
Speaker A:Lots and lots of joggers, kids playing, people walking their dogs, etc.
Speaker E:The National Yiddish Theater is getting ready for a show.
Speaker E:It appears beautiful.
Speaker A:Is that on the picture?
Speaker E:I'm looking at the map right now.
Speaker A:Okay, cool.
Speaker E:American Merchant Mariners Memorial is getting started up.
Speaker E:This would be nice.
Speaker A:There we go.
Speaker A:There we go.
Speaker E:Classic sea glass carousel.
Speaker E:I'll stop.
Speaker E:I'm sorry.
Speaker A:I'm done.
Speaker A:And there are lots of purveyors of what one might call walking food or fast food.
Speaker A:Hot dogs, pretzels, even funnel cake, which is normally a carnival food, has its own cart that is just getting ready to open up for the day.
Speaker F:Perfect.
Speaker D:Do we see the hot dog truck?
Speaker A:It's a very large park, so let's.
Speaker A:Let's see how long it takes you to hopefully find it.
Speaker A:Roisin, you've seen the picture, so why don't you go ahead and lead our search here.
Speaker A:Let's see how much time passes, if you're able to locate it at all.
Speaker C:All right.
Speaker A:Search.
Speaker C:Search.
Speaker E:You at least get to check it.
Speaker A:Go ahead and roll me a 1D4 plus 2, please.
Speaker F:Chris.
Speaker D:We don't mark our, like, charisma or things like that.
Speaker D:Rolls when we fail those.
Speaker A:You can't.
Speaker A:Yeah, you can't increase stats, except between.
Speaker A:You can only do that in home scenes.
Speaker D:Oh, okay.
Speaker D:Got it.
Speaker A:You four walk around Battery park for about three hours, and you realize it's fairly early.
Speaker A:So some of these stands, they're not even open, or they're just kind of sitting there, ready to be manned, but not quite manned yet.
Speaker A:But after about three hours on one end of the park, it's a fairly busy end.
Speaker A:You do spot Roizen.
Speaker A:Finally, underneath a couple beautiful large trees.
Speaker A:The hot dog stand from the picture.
Speaker A:And as you get closer and closer, it's very clear that the numbers, the pictures on it, the decals, match the exact cart that the doorman showed you.
Speaker A:However, there's nobody currently attending it right now.
Speaker A:It's closed down.
Speaker A:The drawers are locked.
Speaker A:The umbrella has not been unfurled.
Speaker A: It's about: Speaker F:Looks like we got to look this guy up, find where he lives.
Speaker F:I mean, get some answers.
Speaker C:Guys, is it just me, or if it's sitting here locked?
Speaker C:Why would the doorman be seeing it every night over near the hotel.
Speaker F:Maybe that's an answer we can ask the dead body of this guy.
Speaker D:What do you mean?
Speaker F:Oh, I'm just starting to suspect that Bill Morrison is going to be a corpse.
Speaker F:When we finally track him down to his location, we'll just be looking at another dead body that's bloated.
Speaker C:Maybe, maybe not.
Speaker C:We'll see.
Speaker C:So there.
Speaker C:There is.
Speaker C:I'm sorry, guys.
Speaker C:I'm a little tired today.
Speaker A:Take your time.
Speaker A:You're all good.
Speaker C:No, that's Roisin.
Speaker A:Oh, gotcha.
Speaker D:Oh, sorry.
Speaker C:That's Roisin talking.
Speaker C:It just occurred to me when I was in the kitchen, I looked out the window, and it was looking straight at the.
Speaker C:The window of the hotel room.
Speaker F:Yeah.
Speaker C:So I don't.
Speaker C:I don't know if that's anything we might want to follow up on next.
Speaker F:Well, I bet you if we.
Speaker F:If we looked real hard, we could line those doors up perfectly, huh?
Speaker C:Maybe.
Speaker D:Roizen, from what you can remember, was the closet in the hotel room also facing the windows?
Speaker C:I don't have a floor plan of that.
Speaker A:So, Chris, y'all think back to where you were situated, understanding north, south, east, west, and kind of think through.
Speaker A:It doesn't take very long, but there's no, like, pattern that lines up or it causes a eureka moment when you realize what surfaces that these scribblings were on.
Speaker F:It's almost some kind of hyper geometry.
Speaker A:As you think through this and chat, kind of stand under the shade of a nearby tree in the crisp air.
Speaker A:You see a man in a ball cap walk up to the hot dog cart, and you see him take a roll of keys out of his pocket, open it up.
Speaker A:He unfurls the umbrella.
Speaker A:You see him start to what looks like prepare himself for a day of slinging dogs to passersby and tourists in Battery Park.
Speaker C:So, Ryan, you're the best of us with people.
Speaker C:Do you want to go talk to him?
Speaker D:Yeah, I'm gonna approach him as he opens up his.
Speaker D:As he goes to open up the truck.
Speaker A:And this is just right.
Speaker A:This is just Ryan, correct?
Speaker F:Just Ryan walking over.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:The whole group is coming up.
Speaker E:Oh, oh, no, no.
Speaker C:Ryzen's leaning against the tree.
Speaker E:No, we're not doing that.
Speaker D:I'm going to.
Speaker D:I'm going to turn to the group and say, let me.
Speaker D:Give me a.
Speaker D:Just give me a minute.
Speaker F:Prentice turns towards the rest of the group and says, he's going to need a minute.
Speaker F:This is going to be good.
Speaker D:And then Ryan's going to walk over to The.
Speaker D:The vendor.
Speaker A:Yeah, he's.
Speaker A:He's setting out a large container of ketchup and he's scooping out some relish now.
Speaker A:And he looks up at you.
Speaker A:Brush.
Speaker A:Almost.
Speaker A:Almost ready, sir.
Speaker A:Almost ready.
Speaker D:Hey, no, no worries.
Speaker D:Take your time.
Speaker D:You're.
Speaker D:You're one of my favorite vendors.
Speaker D:But what's.
Speaker D:Are there a few you around town?
Speaker A:Oh, no, no, no.
Speaker A:I'm an independent operator.
Speaker A:He motions at his own cart as if there's more to see.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker D:Oh, maybe I got mixed up.
Speaker D:I.
Speaker D:I could have sworn I saw this truck a couple miles from here just last week.
Speaker D:I don't know.
Speaker D:That's fine.
Speaker A:That's my spot.
Speaker A:I've had this spot for five years now.
Speaker A:It took me a long time to get this spot nailed down.
Speaker A:He smiles.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:What kind of dog you like?
Speaker D:I mean, fix me up with whatever is the most most popular selection.
Speaker A:That'll be the polish.
Speaker A:He smiles.
Speaker D:All right, sounds great.
Speaker A:He starts building your dock.
Speaker D:I hear these.
Speaker D:These spots here, they're pretty competitive.
Speaker D:Do you have to get here at a certain time of day or do you just keep it parked here overnight?
Speaker A:Oh, you can't keep anything parked overnight.
Speaker A:They'll.
Speaker A:They'll tow you.
Speaker A:They don't care how long you've been operating.
Speaker A:He smiles.
Speaker D:Oh, man.
Speaker D:All right.
Speaker A:I get my car here 4:30 in the morning.
Speaker D:Wow.
Speaker D:Well, hey, I.
Speaker D:The commitment definitely doesn't go unnoticed, man, you're one of the best stands in the park.
Speaker A:He smiles.
Speaker A:He looks at you for a moment.
Speaker A:He's been really paying attention to his setup and building your dog, but he seems to actually regard you now.
Speaker A:You know, I don't think I've.
Speaker A:I don't think I've seen you here before.
Speaker D:Oh, I.
Speaker D:I've been around, but maybe I need to stop by more often.
Speaker D:I reach my hand out.
Speaker D:Name's Jeremy.
Speaker D:Good to meet you, man.
Speaker D:Bill.
Speaker A:Bill.
Speaker A:I can't shake.
Speaker A:It's against health code and all that.
Speaker A:Hope you understand.
Speaker A:I can hit your elbow, though.
Speaker A:He reaches his elbow out.
Speaker D:Yeah, no worries, man.
Speaker D:I knock his elbow back.
Speaker D:Hey, how.
Speaker D:How late do you stay open out here?
Speaker D:Are you just here for the lunch rush?
Speaker A:Lunch rush and right when folks get out of work.
Speaker A:So right after 5, I'll be here for about an hour.
Speaker A:Now I'll close up shop.
Speaker A:6, 6:30 sometimes, if things are going real good.
Speaker D:Oh, nice.
Speaker D:Well, hey, that actually might work a little bit better in my schedule, so.
Speaker D:Hey, appreciate the dog, you know, he hands him money to pay for it.
Speaker A:And then it's as you would expect.
Speaker A:You know, it's like a $15 battery park polish hot dog, but looks like it's loaded up pretty nice.
Speaker D:Walks back over to the group.
Speaker F:So you needed that moment for your hot dog?
Speaker F:Is that what you needed?
Speaker D:Honestly?
Speaker D:Seems like a pretty regular dude.
Speaker D:Super focused on on the work.
Speaker D:Take some pride in his stand or his.
Speaker D:His food truck.
Speaker D:But he says he has to move it every night.
Speaker D:So I guess it's possible that he put.
Speaker D:Just parks it over by where our guys were and I just.
Speaker D:Tough to believe in coincidences.
Speaker D:But I guess it's not so much a coincidence.
Speaker F:I for one believe in your hard hitting interrogation practices.
Speaker F:So this was.
Speaker D:Could you hear what I was saying from over here?
Speaker F:No, but I could tell that you weren't doing hard hitting interrogation.
Speaker F:So.
Speaker F:Good job, man.
Speaker D:Do we have a problem?
Speaker D:Ryan squares up to him.
Speaker F:Okay.
Speaker F:Prentice meets his eyes and says what?
Speaker D:I'm here trying to get a job done.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker D:Are you.
Speaker F:Are you.
Speaker F:Because it looks like you're here getting hot dogs.
Speaker F:Great job by the way.
Speaker F:You got a hot dog, boys.
Speaker E:Print.
Speaker E:Prentice, leave it alone, man.
Speaker F:It's a fucking waste of time.
Speaker F:This whole thing's a fucking waste of time.
Speaker D:Tell us what you do then.
Speaker F:I don't know.
Speaker F:Maybe ask him why the fuck he was parked out in front of where two people have died.
Speaker D:Go ask him.
Speaker C:I don't think that's such a night.
Speaker F:Apprentice marches over.
Speaker A:Stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp.
Speaker F:Yeah.
Speaker F:Hey.
Speaker A:Hey.
Speaker A:How you doing?
Speaker A:What kind of dog can I get you?
Speaker F:Absolutely.
Speaker F:Give me a polish, I guess.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:You seem start to build your dog.
Speaker F:And also could you answer me why you park out in front of Crosby Street Hotel?
Speaker A:He snaps up and looks at you, goes, excuse me?
Speaker F:Yeah.
Speaker F:You park your station wagon and wiener mobile out in front of the Crosby Street Hotel.
Speaker F:I was just curious why.
Speaker A:His eyes furtively glance around and he looks down and does not meet your gaze again, focusing entirely on building your polish.
Speaker A:I don't know what you mean.
Speaker A:I park, I park wherever I can.
Speaker A:When I leave the park, I stutters.
Speaker A:He doesn't see me.
Speaker F:It's just that your vehicle, the timing of your parking there kind of coincides with some murders.
Speaker F:So I'm chasing down some leads here and your answers could really help me out, bud.
Speaker A:He looks up at you, Murtis.
Speaker A:What?
Speaker A:What are you talking about?
Speaker F:Yeah, there's been some murders.
Speaker F:And well, your vehicle has been suspiciously in the area around the time of these murders.
Speaker A:And I'm just curious what he stops making your dog.
Speaker A:I think you can find some food somewhere else.
Speaker A:Sir, I, I don't.
Speaker A:I don't like what you're saying.
Speaker F:Look, I'm a paying customer and if you don't want to sell me your hot dogs, that's great.
Speaker A:Here, just take it.
Speaker A:He shoves you the half finished polish.
Speaker A:You don't have to pay anything.
Speaker A:Just move along.
Speaker A:Get out of here.
Speaker F:Oh, I'm a.
Speaker F:I'm a hard paying, hard working kind of guy.
Speaker F:So I insist.
Speaker F:And he slaps down a five dollar bill and he walks away.
Speaker F:Yeah, he knows something.
Speaker F:He says when he gets back to.
Speaker A:Y'All, his polish doesn't look nearly as good as Ryan's.
Speaker A:It's half.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker F:He throws it in the trash.
Speaker A:Ryan, are you eating yours?
Speaker D:No.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker F:So Prentice turns around and stares the hot dog man down.
Speaker A:Yeah, he.
Speaker A:He's.
Speaker A:He kind of moves his cart just a bit to angle away so he doesn't have to see you.
Speaker F:And Prentice will slowly walk.
Speaker C:Oh, shit.
Speaker A:Just.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Well, he's doing his best to ignore you see a line starting to queue up.
Speaker D:Now he knows something that's definitely interesting.
Speaker F:It's making those dogs.
Speaker C:Prentice, I swear, if you just drew more attention to us.
Speaker F:I mean, we've been, we've been going about this all week.
Speaker F:I'm a doctor.
Speaker F:I don't fucking do this shit.
Speaker F:We're doing it wrong, I can tell you that.
Speaker E:Look, why don't we find out what time he usually takes off and just tail him at the end of the day?
Speaker C:Yeah, well, we know where he's gonna be around 7, 7:30 tonight.
Speaker F:So maybe we find where he's parked here in this park and tail him.
Speaker D:Yeah, I think that's.
Speaker D:I think that's a great idea.
Speaker D:Might be a good idea if Prentiss and myself aren't accidentally seen by him though.
Speaker D:So, Roisin, Paris, either of you, you could probably be a little bit more visible, make your job a little bit easier.
Speaker D:And I doubt he'd even notice you.
Speaker E:Yeah, this is something I can handle.
Speaker C:Yeah, I'll.
Speaker C:I'll stick with Paris when the time comes.
Speaker C: d, he said he packs up around: Speaker C:So.
Speaker D:Yeah, about that.
Speaker D:Once the after work crowd finishes.
Speaker D:So we still got a couple hours.
Speaker D:Wasn't like 3pm, Chris?
Speaker A:No, it's about 11am Oh, I thought like three hours.
Speaker D:Oh, right.
Speaker D:Sorry, sorry, I forgot we started super early.
Speaker C:Got it.
Speaker C:So, Paris, why don't we come back around 5:30?
Speaker C:That way if he packs up early for some Reason we'll be here after that mess of a conversation.
Speaker C:Prentice, you.
Speaker C:You need to call the Lieutenant Colonel and update him as to what just happened.
Speaker F:Before he calls us, Prentiss flips open his.
Speaker F:His jacket and pulls his phone out.
Speaker F:Just stares Royson in the eyes and dials the number he was given for Mr.
Speaker F:Porter.
Speaker F:Lt.
Speaker F:Col.
Speaker F:Porter.
Speaker A:It rings three times and is picked up.
Speaker B:Agent, do you have news for me?
Speaker F:Checking in.
Speaker F:We're chasing down leads.
Speaker B:Oh, you're.
Speaker F:You're.
Speaker B:You're checking in to tell me you're chasing down leads?
Speaker F:Well, we were told to check in in six hours, so we're checking in.
Speaker A:Yeah, go ahead and give me some.
Speaker B:Of those details around exactly what leads you're chasing down.
Speaker B:That would be appreciated on my end.
Speaker A:Sure.
Speaker F:We found a suspicious hot dog man who's been parking outside the the area.
Speaker F:And upon questioning, said hot dog man was evasive and denied involvement.
Speaker F:So we're gonna be chasing this man down and seeing what he's up to.
Speaker B:Do you have any details on this individual?
Speaker F:We've looked him up.
Speaker F:He's a.
Speaker F:He's a hot dog man, as I said.
Speaker F:And he's got a 99 of 100 rating.
Speaker B:Talking about name number.
Speaker B:Any information that I could use goes.
Speaker F:By the name Bill.
Speaker F:Bill Morrison.
Speaker B:Okay, you got Bill Morrison.
Speaker B:Do you have eyes on this gentleman?
Speaker F:I do.
Speaker F:I have eyes on him right now.
Speaker B:Well, there you go.
Speaker B:So his stand will have a health permit stapled to it.
Speaker B:Or that's a New York City license number for operating in the city.
Speaker B:Why don't you go ahead and give me either the number on the health certificate or the license number or both.
Speaker F:I read them both.
Speaker A:You do have the license number.
Speaker A:You don't have any health certificate information.
Speaker F:Okay, so I read the license number.
Speaker A:You give them the license number.
Speaker B:Okay, There we go.
Speaker C:All right, so tell him about the door apprentice.
Speaker B:We have leverage on this gentleman if you need to apply some pressure, and you can let him know that.
Speaker F:Okay.
Speaker F:What's the leverage?
Speaker B:The leverage is we're gonna pull his permit if he doesn't play nice.
Speaker F:Sounds great.
Speaker F:I'll check.
Speaker B:Anything else you want to let me know?
Speaker F:Across the street where the second body was found, we discovered a chalk door similar to the chalk door we found in the first corpse location.
Speaker B:We're also finding you had a chalk door in the first location and a.
Speaker F:Chalk door in the second.
Speaker B:Someone's drawing doors in these scenes.
Speaker F:Yes, and it appears somebody may have passed through the second corpse location's door, exiting it, knocking Out.
Speaker F:Clothing.
Speaker B:Sorry.
Speaker B:Sorry.
Speaker B:You're telling me you're seeing evidence of someone passing through scribbled doors on a wall?
Speaker F:It seems that way.
Speaker B:What is the evidence and where is it now?
Speaker F:Footprints currently in the building.
Speaker F:We have not erased it yet.
Speaker F:We are still trying to understand its purpose and how it might be halted.
Speaker B:You have footprints that are half in and half out of this doorway.
Speaker B:I'm trying to understand this here.
Speaker B:What is the unnatural evidence that you're trying to cite to me right now?
Speaker F:I don't know if you've ever seen a chalk drawing of a door, seen evidence that it's been walked through before, but I find that rather unnatural.
Speaker B:I'm finding it's very unnatural that you can't give me the brief summary of what this evidence is that has you so convinced.
Speaker F:I thought I just did.
Speaker F:If we're just gonna waste our time, I can hang up now.
Speaker B:Hmm.
Speaker B:This is an interesting conversation.
Speaker B:Would you say that you are the proper person on your team to be speaking to me and reporting to me right now, or do you think somebody with maybe a little bit more tact or sleep under the belt would be a more appropriate person to go ahead and deliver this report?
Speaker F:I don't know.
Speaker F:Have any of you gotten any sleep?
Speaker C:Rosen's just gonna sound like you need.
Speaker B:A bit of a nap.
Speaker B:Agent, why don't you go ahead and hand the phone to anyone else on your team?
Speaker C:Roisin's gonna hold out her hand for the phone.
Speaker F:Prentice hands it to her.
Speaker B:Hello, Agent.
Speaker B:How are you doing this morning?
Speaker B:Are you feeling rested?
Speaker C:Not quite, sir, but highly caffeinated.
Speaker B:That's what I like to hear.
Speaker B:The other agent was trying to describe to me drawings on walls and their relation to some sort of translocation.
Speaker B:Can you elaborate on that for me, please?
Speaker C:So, sir, on the back wall of the closet, in both the room in the hotel as well as in the apartment, the closet in the apartment was in the bedroom.
Speaker C:There is a chalk scribble of a door on the back wall in the closet in the apartment, there was found a footprint, approximately size 16, possibly larger, as well as clothes that appeared to have been knocked off the hangers, several of them, outside of the closet, as if they were being pushed out and not in.
Speaker B:Perfect.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker C:Also, sir, I should let you know, unfortunately, when that was discovered, somebody pulled the attention of Agent Rachel Glenn, and she removed us from the scene for possible contamination of evidence.
Speaker B:Glenn Glenn.
Speaker B:That's the special agent running the FBI investigation into the Crosby Street Hotel, correct?
Speaker C:Yes, sir.
Speaker B:She is also running did you interact with these drawings?
Speaker C:We.
Speaker C:We did touch the one in the hotel.
Speaker C:The chalk smudged.
Speaker C:It did not open as if it were a doorway for us.
Speaker C:Several of us attempted to activate said doorway.
Speaker C:There may be an incantation that we are not aware of.
Speaker C:It may also be a false lead.
Speaker C:Although the coincidence of two scribbled doorways on the back of a closet, that's not a coincidence.
Speaker C:With two to dead hyperbloaded bodies is little too much to consider coincidence.
Speaker C:Yes sir.
Speaker B:Go ahead and give me a call if you encounter another one when it is in your field of vision.
Speaker B:I would like to explore further with you while you're on the scene.
Speaker C:Yes sir.
Speaker C:We are waiting for a call from Special Agent Rachel Glenn to state that we can return to the scene.
Speaker B:Understood.
Speaker B:I went ahead and let.
Speaker B:I guess that was Agent Prentice.
Speaker B:Let him know that we do have some pressure we can put on your hot dog vendor if you believe him to be involved in any of this activity.
Speaker C: dy was found at approximately: Speaker B:Wait.
Speaker B:He's parking in front of the Crosby street hotel every night, 7 to 7:30?
Speaker B:Is that what you said?
Speaker F:That's literally what I said to this Bajorin?
Speaker C:That is correct, sir.
Speaker E:That's great.
Speaker E:Good stuff.
Speaker C:There again, possibly.
Speaker B:How the hell is he finding parking.
Speaker C:In New York City every night in the same location?
Speaker C:That.
Speaker F:That is so unnatural.
Speaker C:It is enough that the doorman noticed and provided me with a picture of said hot dog cart.
Speaker C:Which is why we followed the lead.
Speaker B:Agent Roizen, this has disturbing echoes of some information that I'm gonna need to track down for you.
Speaker B:Please go ahead and stand by this phone to hear from me again soon.
Speaker B:Thank you for your report.
Speaker A:He hangs up.
Speaker F:Prentiss plucks the phone from Royson.
Speaker F:He's just a peach, isn't he?
Speaker C:Roisin just sticks your tongue at him.
Speaker D:Isn't it Roisin's phone?
Speaker C:No, no, that was apprentice's phone.
Speaker F:Sorry.
Speaker D:It was Prentices.
Speaker C:Risen forced Prentice to make the call because he messed up the hot dog vendor and then proceeded to mess up with the Lieutenant Colonel.
Speaker C:So Royce did not mess up.
Speaker F:The hot dog vendor knew exactly what he was doing.
Speaker F:Crushed.
Speaker E:It seems like he did it right.
Speaker A:So it sounds like the team.
Speaker A:Now that you've checked in with your handler, you're gonna return back to Battery park around 5 5:30 to stake out Bill Morrison.
Speaker A:Is that correct?
Speaker D:I don't think So I think, Chris, is it fair to say that everybody there, like, knew all that?
Speaker D:Like, could it have been on speaker?
Speaker D:We don't have to go through this.
Speaker D:I would love.
Speaker A:I would love to just do a brain dump and move on, please.
Speaker F:Yeah.
Speaker C:We'll assume in the Roisin relays what little information she got from him.
Speaker A:There we go.
Speaker F:Apprentice does as well because he said that they have leverage on him.
Speaker E:Yeah, I believe.
Speaker F:And we can use said leverage.
Speaker E:I believe Paris and Royston are coming back to stake him out because he wouldn't recognize us.
Speaker A:But is that the plan at this point?
Speaker A:Because if so, it can be.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Exactly.
Speaker A:That's what I'm trying to determine.
Speaker A:Is that what we want to do next?
Speaker D:Well, let's talk about it for a second because.
Speaker D:So Ryan's going to say that information, to me, changes our approach.
Speaker D:I definitely think it makes sense to come back at the end of the day, but I don't think we necessarily need a spend time staking this guy out.
Speaker D:We've got leverage.
Speaker D:Let's squeeze him.
Speaker F:I'm on board with that, surprisingly.
Speaker E:I mean, we could.
Speaker E:We could also follow him after he leaves, and if that doesn't give us anything, squeeze him then.
Speaker C:I would prefer not to have this conversation in a crowded park at lunchtime.
Speaker D:No one's.
Speaker D:No one's listening.
Speaker C:I met with our conversation.
Speaker A:Yeah, I met New York.
Speaker A:Just that, just as an aside, like, this is the perfect place to have surreptitious conversations.
Speaker C:No, I, I meant the conversation with the hot dog vendor.
Speaker D:Oh, no, no, I, I, Oh, I understand.
Speaker D:That's what I was saying, like, at the end of the day, like, when, when he, when he's, like, packing up, you know?
Speaker F:Yeah.
Speaker F:When he doesn't have people around that'll.
Speaker D:Right.
Speaker F:Ask questions about us interrogating him publicly.
Speaker F:Yeah.
Speaker D:I just think rather than spending time staking him out.
Speaker D:Or we could do the efficiency we should, you know, well.
Speaker F:Apprentice interjects.
Speaker F:Or we could do the intimidating factor and tell everybody behind us in line that the fucking vendors closed.
Speaker E:No, I think the better move here is we follow him from the park and see where he goes and if that's.
Speaker E:And then squeeze the guy.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Let's not draw any more attention to ourselves.
Speaker C:I've already been caught on camera once today.
Speaker F:Oh, yeah, that part.
Speaker F:Prentiss unlocks his phone and taps an app and then says, reminder, Get a nine starry bouquet for Porter.
Speaker D:Hey, man, if we get answers from this guy, I think that's going to be thanks enough.
Speaker F:Yeah, but Also, an edible bouquet is always an excellent apology.
Speaker D:Do I get one?
Speaker F:Why would you get an apology?
Speaker D:Ryan's going to kick rocks.
Speaker C:Ryan.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker C:Don't.
Speaker C:Don't.
Speaker E:Paris says.
Speaker E:I think.
Speaker E:I think the only.
Speaker E:The only question we have right now is, what are we going to do between now and 5:30 when we get back to Battery Park?
Speaker E:We have about six hours.
Speaker C:Yeah, we have a van.
Speaker C:And I need a van.
Speaker F:I've got a nap.
Speaker F:We'll take nap shifts.
Speaker E:Yeah, maybe getting some sleep isn't a bad idea.
Speaker A:You could also get a hotel if you wanted to.
Speaker A:But if.
Speaker A:Yeah, if you want to sleep in the CDC van, it's going to be fairly uncomfortable, but you might be able to swing it.
Speaker C:And it won't be a problem for Roizen or Paris.
Speaker C:But Ryan and Prentice probably wouldn't be able to do it.
Speaker A:It's up to y'all.
Speaker A:Just let me know how you'd like to play this out and we'll make it happen.
Speaker E:Paris says, yeah, van sounds fine to me, you guys.
Speaker F:Yeah, it's not gonna do great on my neck.
Speaker C:Let's get the baby a hotel.
Speaker F:Baby needs a bed.
Speaker D:Yeah, hotel.
Speaker D:Hotel works for me.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:So I'm gonna.
Speaker A:I'm gonna kind of fast forward here.
Speaker A:The team goes ahead, gets a hotel so that you guys can get some rest before you put the screws, perhaps to this hot dog vendor, Bill Morrison.
Speaker D:So Ryan doesn't need sleep.
Speaker D:He's.
Speaker D:Everyone's in their own room, so I assume.
Speaker A:So you're not tired?
Speaker D:Well, he doesn't.
Speaker D:They don't need to know that he's not.
Speaker D:I'm wondering how best to spend that time.
Speaker D:I'm trying to think if there's anything.
Speaker D:Investigatively, I don't know if he can do anything remotely.
Speaker D:Though, now that I'm thinking about it.
Speaker E:The only delete he had was, yeah, it was the auction house.
Speaker E:Nice.
Speaker E:Which is just pretty tenuous at best.
Speaker E:I mean, that's a.
Speaker F:You could.
Speaker F:You could maybe scan that document, that receipt, and then load that into Google Translate, see what that bad boy says.
Speaker D:Actually, that's not a bad idea.
Speaker D:As we're heading back our separate ways or whatever, Ryan's going to ask Paris to take a look at the receipt.
Speaker A:So, Agent Ryan, when you bid adieu to the other agents, so that they can get some shut eye, you obtain the receipt that Paris took from, presumably, Francis Ying's luggage and go ahead and run it through Google Translation.
Speaker A:And unfortunately, it doesn't really yield anything of interest to you.
Speaker A:The Chinese characters Basically represented by the English.
Speaker A:This came from the Jade Auction House, Hong Kong.
Speaker A:There's an address.
Speaker A:The date matches up with what you know, the amount of money.
Speaker A:And there's nothing more here that's written.
Speaker A:It's all just printed Chinese that would correspond to what was actually sold.
Speaker A:The only characters written that have anything to do with what was sold are in English, and it's a single word figure, so nothing additional, unfortunately.
Speaker A:After that translation, is there anything else Agent Ryan's going to do while he waits for the others to get some rest?
Speaker D:Can you remind me what we already know about ing?
Speaker A:You know that Ng was under surveillance and investigation by the FBI and the IRS for purported money laundering as part of a broader RICO case being built by the FBI and his involvement with some of the New York crime families.
Speaker D:Ryan's gonna do.
Speaker D:This is absurd.
Speaker D:I recognize, but kind of in the spirit of no stone unturned and being super awake in the middle of the day, he's gonna just do a search of.
Speaker D:Of his name.
Speaker D:Not looking for anything in particular.
Speaker D:More of just broad info.
Speaker D:Gathering as much as he can from wherever he can find information.
Speaker D:On the.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker D:On the Internet.
Speaker A:Well, unsurprisingly, the illicit members of criminal organizations are tough to locate.
Speaker A:Asand on this man, Francis Ng, if he is a perpetrator of these alleged crimes, is no exception.
Speaker A:You don't discover anything about this man from your public searches.
Speaker D:He's, like, fully, fully absent.
Speaker D:Or.
Speaker D:He just has a very curated online Persona.
Speaker A:You can't find him online.
Speaker A:He doesn't have a Facebook or a MySpace or a.
Speaker A:Or a Tumblr or a live trainer.
Speaker A:He has three space spaces.
Speaker A:Yeah, he doesn't.
Speaker A:He doesn't use LinkedIn, apparently, to advertise his.
Speaker A:His skills.
Speaker A:Yeah, there's.
Speaker A:There's no obvious way to find this man.
Speaker D:Okay, then Ryan is going to do Sudoku puzzles online.
Speaker A:He's a Sudoku guy.
Speaker D:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Is he.
Speaker A:Is he good?
Speaker D:Decent?
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Is he getting better?
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker A:Okay, good.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Well, he gets his brain teased by a few Sudokus and awaits the awakening of the other agents.
Speaker A:Is it?
Speaker D:I just realized I missed an opportunity to say Ryan, act slowly.
Speaker D:Damn it.
Speaker F:He produces his track.
Speaker D:A good call back.
Speaker A:God damn it.
Speaker A:He gets very, very lonely.
Speaker E:Mix it in.
Speaker A:I'm gonna go ahead and flash forward to you four in or nearby Battery park with eyes back on Bill Morrison, who is now packing up his cart.
Speaker A:Is that fair?
Speaker D:Makes sense to me.
Speaker E:Yeah.
Speaker E:I've been to it.
Speaker A:Excellent.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker D:Oh, on the way Ryan fills in the group that on, you know, basically what he did to look into the receipt and kind of.
Speaker D:That it really came up cold, other than what we've already seen.
Speaker D:Just so everyone's on the same page.
Speaker A:You're watching Mr.
Speaker A:Morrison from afar.
Speaker A:He doesn't seem to have registered your presence.
Speaker A:Not surprising.
Speaker A:Battery park is still crowded.
Speaker A:You're four of many faces in a sea.
Speaker E:Around 6:30, actively trying to not be noticed by him.
Speaker E:Just to make that clear.
Speaker A:He hasn't.
Speaker A:He hasn't shown any indication that he's noticed.
Speaker A:You okay?
Speaker E:Yeah.
Speaker A:Around 6:30, you're watching him put his equipment away.
Speaker A:It doesn't look like he's had a rush, Ryan, like he was hoping for when he spoke with you earlier.
Speaker A:You see him for a moment, pause and lean down.
Speaker A:And he puts his ear very close to where the dogs normally are cooking.
Speaker A:Very close, dangerously so.
Speaker A:He then stands up straight and he checks his watch and he starts putting his condiments back out as if he's preparing to continue service and stands there.
Speaker F:Were his wieners talking to him?
Speaker C:1Ew.
Speaker C:2.
Speaker C:That is really weird.
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker D:Strange behavior.
Speaker F:Time to go.
Speaker F:Muscle up.
Speaker D:Brian looks to Prentiss.
Speaker D:I must admit, your hard ass approach earlier, she did seem to be a little nervous.
Speaker D:And if we've got some.
Speaker D:Something to back it up now, I think we go in intimidating.
Speaker F:Let's do it.
Speaker E:Hold on, guys.
Speaker E:Again, I have to emphasize, I think the right move here is to wait and follow him and then squeeze when we get some.
Speaker F:The more we wait.
Speaker F:He's packing.
Speaker D:He's unpacking the stuff.
Speaker E:Hey, Roizen, where are you on this?
Speaker C:I'm torn.
Speaker C:It's quiet enough that we could probably get our answers now, but I do kind of want to know where he goes.
Speaker C:And we.
Speaker F:We know where he goes.
Speaker E:Yeah, but look, two of us have military experience and two of us don't.
Speaker F:And I'm sure, sure, I defer to your military experience.
Speaker E:I mean.
Speaker E:Hey, Chris, I'm gonna.
Speaker E:Can I do a military science land check here to see if moving in on this guy here would be a good idea or would Paris think it's a good idea?
Speaker E:Would he think it's better to.
Speaker A:Yeah, I don't think you need a roll this right now.
Speaker A:You have a military science land above 50%, correct?
Speaker E:Yeah, I do.
Speaker E:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You're looking around and you're seeing how you would set up a deployment here with a small team.
Speaker A:You don't really have the skills that you require, but you have.
Speaker A:You and Roizen and you could easily set that up if you needed to.
Speaker A:No role required.
Speaker D:I thought that just meant that his character can identify when he's on land.
Speaker A:You're on land 100%.
Speaker E:Paris looks down and goes, we're definitely.
Speaker A:At the mossy green beneath your foot.
Speaker C:I mean, we're not at sea, and I'm pretty sure we're not in the air.
Speaker C:At least we better not be in the air, because if we are, I'm imagining things.
Speaker C:And then we've got bigger problems.
Speaker E:Look, man, if we end up having to get aggressive and interrogate this guy, which.
Speaker E:That's what we got to do, that's what we'll do.
Speaker E:But doing it here in the park doesn't seem like a good idea.
Speaker D:Oh, all right, let's practice.
Speaker D:Mine's frustrated, but acquiesces and agrees.
Speaker E:Unless you guys think you can just talk them into telling us what we want to know.
Speaker F:Well, that's why they pay me the big dollars.
Speaker F:This prentice.
Speaker D:Yeah, I'm not sure you're talking.
Speaker D:Has been your strong suit, I think.
Speaker F:Just acquiesced and told me that my.
Speaker D:I think the straightforward approach makes a lot of sense as long as we're able to back it up with a fist or two.
Speaker D:So that's why I think we should maybe do it somewhere else.
Speaker F:Well, we've got, like, what, eight fists here?
Speaker D:Well, how about not going to get in a fight in the middle of the park?
Speaker E:How about this?
Speaker E:How about you two go up and have your.
Speaker E:He doesn't know about me, and Agent Roy's in here with you two.
Speaker E:So why don't you two go up and have a conversation with him, and we'll just hang back.
Speaker E:And if it goes south, then we can follow him to wherever he's headed.
Speaker F:Good cop, bad cop.
Speaker E:And if it.
Speaker E:If you need our help, we're right here to step in.
Speaker E:And if it works out, great.
Speaker E:No one's getting their knuckles bloody tonight.
Speaker C:So, Paris, do you want to stay here on overwatch, or do you want to sneak up behind him in case he tries to run?
Speaker E:I'll.
Speaker E:I'll get behind him, and you stay over on this side.
Speaker A:Copy you set up accordingly.
Speaker A:And Prentiss and Ryan approach the vendor.
Speaker A:There's nobody in queue right now, but he is set up to continue service.
Speaker A:He watches as you two approach.
Speaker A:Doesn't say anything.
Speaker A:He looks anxious.
Speaker F:Hey, wiener man.
Speaker F:Long time no see.
Speaker A:Hey, I ain't serving you.
Speaker A:I ain't serving you.
Speaker A:You just move along.
Speaker F:Yeah, you might not be serving anybody.
Speaker F:For a long time.
Speaker F:If you get your license for now.
Speaker F:I asked you a question earlier and I expect an answer.
Speaker A:I don't know anything about any murders.
Speaker A:He looks up at you, Ryan.
Speaker A:This guy.
Speaker A:This guy's.
Speaker A:Shakes his head, trails off.
Speaker D:Hey, Bill.
Speaker D:I suggest you answer his questions.
Speaker A:I don't know nothing about murder.
Speaker A:I don't know what the hell you two are up to.
Speaker A:You two are.
Speaker A:Shakes his head, trails off again.
Speaker D:Hey, Bill.
Speaker D:How's life been lately?
Speaker D:Everything normal?
Speaker D:Everything okay?
Speaker A:I don't know what you two are up to.
Speaker A:I don't have time for this.
Speaker D:He starts condiments.
Speaker A:He starts grabbing his condiments and starts putting his.
Speaker A:His equipment away as quickly as he can.
Speaker A:His hands are shaking.
Speaker F:I hit this button on my phone.
Speaker F:Your license is canceled.
Speaker F:Suspended.
Speaker F:You're not serving dogs anymore.
Speaker F:I don't want to do that.
Speaker F:I just want answers.
Speaker F:And I know you've got them.
Speaker F:You want me to hit this button?
Speaker A:Go ahead and roll your charisma, please.
Speaker D:Is there anything Ryan can do to help with that charisma?
Speaker A:Not at this point.
Speaker F:That was a delicious success.
Speaker E:Take a look.
Speaker A:He looks up, he goes.
Speaker A:I don't know what you want for me.
Speaker A:I don't know what you want from me.
Speaker A:He's shaking his head.
Speaker A:He's looking down.
Speaker A:His hands are really, really quivering.
Speaker D:Bill, Bill, take a breath.
Speaker D:Everything's gonna be alright as long as you answer our questions.
Speaker A:What do you want me to say?
Speaker D:How has life been lately?
Speaker D:Any weird changes recently?
Speaker A:Everything's fine.
Speaker A:Until you came up to my cart and started harassing me.
Speaker F:I think the more direct question is why are you parking outside of a place where two bodies have shown up?
Speaker F:It's insistent.
Speaker A:I don't know what you mean.
Speaker A:What are you talking about?
Speaker A:I don't know anything about any murders.
Speaker F:Talking about the Crosby Street Hotel.
Speaker F:What are you doing out there?
Speaker A:Well, I'm supposed to be parking out there every day, but tonight.
Speaker F:Since when?
Speaker A:It tells me to.
Speaker A:To go there, so I.
Speaker A:So I do.
Speaker A:He looks down at the ground.
Speaker A:The mustard container falls out of his grasp and just kind of bounces a bit in.
Speaker A:In the.
Speaker A:In the grass and lies still.
Speaker D:Tell me more about that Bill.
Speaker D:What tells you to park there?
Speaker A:The voice.
Speaker A:The voice in the cart.
Speaker D:Where does the voice come from?
Speaker A:He motions, kind of swirls his hand and seems to indicate where the dogs are kept.
Speaker D:How long has the voice been talking to you?
Speaker A:Bill tells me to go to.
Speaker A:To the blue door at 96 in East 5th.
Speaker A:Tells me to go there and then I Hear, I hear more.
Speaker A:It told me to go to that spot every day.
Speaker A:It was always available for me.
Speaker A:But I would go there every day and I would count the bricks in front of the building at Crosby Street Hotel.
Speaker A:Last day I did it was yesterday.
Speaker A:Today, I didn't hear nothing.
Speaker D:When did this start?
Speaker A:Couple weeks.
Speaker A:Weeks ago.
Speaker A:Two weeks ago, maybe.
Speaker F:And when you follow the commands of the voice in your cart, what's the result of doing as it asks?
Speaker A:There's always a parking place for me.
Speaker A:I park there, I count the bricks, and I leave.
Speaker D:Have you ever tried not counting the bricks or not doing what it tells you to do?
Speaker A:He shakes his head.
Speaker F:Is there a reason why you wouldn't follow its commands?
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker A:I wanted.
Speaker D:I wanted to have you gone through this blue door.
Speaker A:He turns white and looks up at you.
Speaker A:He's no longer looking down at the ground.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:No, never.
Speaker A:I just heard.
Speaker A:Heard more from it.
Speaker A:Told me to count, so I did.
Speaker F:What did it tell you today?
Speaker F:We saw you listening to it.
Speaker A:There was nothing.
Speaker A:So I thought I'd stay here, see if I could sell some more.
Speaker F:So what's really behind that blue door, Bill?
Speaker A:I.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker F:Can I roll.
Speaker F:Roll my hu.
Speaker F:Mint, see if he's lying?
Speaker A:That's not how HUMINT works, but you can definitely roll it.
Speaker A:It's not like an insight roll in D and D where you.
Speaker A:You can tell if somebody's lying.
Speaker A:HUMINT is gathering human intelligence by observing behavior.
Speaker A:So if you roll it, I can tell you if anything looks like he's providing body language that would give you additional information.
Speaker A:But it's not a lie detector.
Speaker A:Of course.
Speaker A:Yeah, but remember, HUMINT is not a lie detector necessarily.
Speaker D:I failed anyway, but.
Speaker D:Understood.
Speaker A:Remember to check it.
Speaker D:Oh, it's checked.
Speaker D:It's checked.
Speaker D:Like a public restroom.
Speaker A:Fascinating.
Speaker D:That made no sense.
Speaker A:So, it looks like you both failed your human intelligence, so please make sure it's checked on both of your character sheets.
Speaker A:So he seems extremely nervous.
Speaker A:He seems a little bit off kilter.
Speaker A:He's telling you something that is indicative of a schizophrenic.
Speaker A:And he is distributing and showing signs of mental imbalance.
Speaker F:The only thing that you know, the fact that he always has a parking space and that he's told to count things, feels like a warning sign.
Speaker F:Out of character.
Speaker F:Of course.
Speaker F:Well, Bill, thanks for answering our questions.
Speaker F:And keep clean, bud.
Speaker A:He shakes a bit.
Speaker A:His whole body seems really fairly rocked.
Speaker A:This was traumatic for him.
Speaker A:He looks down, he doesn't answer.
Speaker A:His eyes stay fixed to the cart.
Speaker F:Hey, Bill.
Speaker F:Thanks for the dogs.
Speaker F:And Prentiss puts down a 20.
Speaker A:Bill doesn't move and walks away.
Speaker C:Are we talking catatonic or just shaken?
Speaker A:You can't tell from here, Roisin.
Speaker D:Before he walks away, Ryan is going to say, bill, I think you're doing the right thing.
Speaker D:I think it makes sense to keep on doing exactly what you're doing.
Speaker F:That voice can't do you any wrong.
Speaker D:Follow that voice as seems to be getting you your parking spot.
Speaker D:So that's.
Speaker D:That's great.
Speaker D:And don't worry about us looking into your license.
Speaker D:You're.
Speaker D:You're all good, Bill.
Speaker D:And then he's gonna walk away.
Speaker A:He bites his bottom lip and he nods slowly as you turn and leave.
Speaker F:So 96th and he's fifth, blue door.
Speaker D:Well, let's.
Speaker D:Let's.
Speaker D:Do you wanna fill in?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker D:Roisin in Paris.
Speaker F:Yeah.
Speaker D:Or do you want me to.
Speaker F:I was just doing.
Speaker D:You've gotta give up more info than that.
Speaker A:No, no, that's it.
Speaker A:That's hilarious.
Speaker C:Roisin's just staring at him like.
Speaker C:You really are an idiot, aren't you?
Speaker D:Yeah.
Speaker D:So he hears a voice inside of his food truck telling him to park where he parks and count the bricks on the hotel.
Speaker D:He mentioned this blue door on 96 and East 5th.
Speaker D:When I asked him if he's gone into it.
Speaker D:Yeah, he seemed absolutely petrified.
Speaker D:I think that we should fill Porter in on this latest.
Speaker D:And to be honest, I think that this is a guy who might be.
Speaker D:He might need to be taken out of play.
Speaker C:All right.
Speaker D:Seen too much and that sort of thing.
Speaker C:Should I just assume that I'm making the call?
Speaker D:I can call him.
Speaker C:All right.
Speaker C:Good luck.
Speaker F:Ryan might be happy to call him.
Speaker C:No, Prentice, look, it'll.
Speaker F:It'll be a.
Speaker F:I promise it'll be a PR blitz this time.
Speaker D:Apprentice did do a lot of the talking.
Speaker C:Poison's just giving him the look.
Speaker D:All right.
Speaker D:Ryan will give him a call.
Speaker A:It rings three times.
Speaker B:Agent, good news.
Speaker D:Yes, sir.
Speaker D:Your new star pupil, Prentice, over here found out some great information.
Speaker D:We talked to Bill Morrison, and signs of a natural are very much present here.
Speaker D:He hears a voice speaking to him from inside of his food truck.
Speaker D:It tells him where to park.
Speaker D:It tells him to count bricks on the outside of the hotel.
Speaker D:And he mentioned a blue door at 96th and East 5th.
Speaker D:And when we asked if he's been in it, he's turned absolutely white.
Speaker D:Very terrified.
Speaker D:I think it's a solid lead as far as my experience with these kind of investigations.
Speaker D:But I also wanted to Give you a heads up on Bill himself because he may have seen too much.
Speaker B:That's why you're calling me?
Speaker D:Ryan's gonna hold the silence.
Speaker B:Sure.
Speaker B:Your recommendation is noted, Agent.
Speaker B:Why don't you call back when you've got something more substantial, though.
Speaker D:Do we have permission to contain the information?
Speaker D:This man knows.
Speaker B:Just follow the directives, follow your mission.
Speaker B:Do things right.
Speaker D:Yes, sir.
Speaker D:Get some sleep.
Speaker A:I don't think you need.
Speaker D:I don't think.
Speaker D:Ryan hangs up okay.
Speaker F:All right.
Speaker F:That was excellent.
Speaker D:So that I guess we just abused.
Speaker F:We abused somebody who might be going through a psychotic break.
Speaker F:And.
Speaker F:And now we're going to investigate the leads he gave us.
Speaker E:So it's to save the world.
Speaker E:It's Delta Green.
Speaker F:Yeah, It's Thursday.
Speaker F:It's the Delta Green Thursday.
Speaker A:So am I to understand that the team wants to head across town to 96th and East 5th?
Speaker D:Yep, yep, yep.
Speaker F:Time to peel back.
Speaker F:Peel back that blue door.
Speaker A:Excellent.
Speaker A:Ryan, you're driving again later.
Speaker A:Is that correct?
Speaker D:Yes.
Speaker A:You four drive across the city towards this cross street that was given to you by a clearly unbalanced hot dog vendor.
Speaker A:You find parking your governor plates again, allowing you great privilege to do so and begin walking around what seems like a busy commercial laden block.
Speaker A:Mixed use complexes, coffee shops, alleys and alleys like you wouldn't believe.
Speaker A:Looking for any indication of this blue door.
Speaker A:One point you split up, thinking that you can cover more ground quickly as the sun begins to wane in the evening sky.
Speaker A:But you don't have any luck.
Speaker A:There's no indication of this blue door that you can find, despite the twisting alleys that you each travel down scouring.
Speaker A:You four meet back in front of what looks like a small barber shop and report to each other your failure to locate anything that resembles this door.
Speaker A:When.
Speaker A:Ryan, your phone rings.
Speaker A:It is from Special Agent Rachel Glenn.
Speaker A:According to the caller ID.
Speaker D:Special Agent Rachel Glenn.
Speaker D:How may I help you?
Speaker B:Dr.
Speaker B:Horker.
Speaker D:Agent Horker.
Speaker A:Agent.
Speaker D:Yes, ma'am.
Speaker B:Sure.
Speaker B:Agent Horker.
Speaker B:Look, didn't find anything in the Swartz residence that I needed a consult on.
Speaker B:It is now under federal purview.
Speaker B:But I do want to connect with you on another body that has come across my desk with similar characteristics to our two known victims.
Speaker B:I'm wondering if you can meet me again down at the medical Examiner's office.
Speaker B:Just one last time.
Speaker B:Take a look at one of these bodies and see if we can come up with any patterns.
Speaker B:Because I'll be honest, I.
Speaker B:I'm not seeing anything.
Speaker D:Yeah, we can do that if the body just got there, can you call over to the medical examiner and ask them to take some pictures of it in its current state?
Speaker B:I'm down here now with the body.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker D:Pictures would be helpful.
Speaker B:Sure.
Speaker B:When can I expect you in your team?
Speaker D:Well, we'll head over right now.
Speaker B:See you soon.
Speaker A:She hangs UP Chris, what time of.
Speaker C:Day is it now?
Speaker A:So it is now evening.
Speaker A:It is dark.
Speaker A:The sun has dipped below the horizon.
Speaker C: the East coast approximately: Speaker A:Well, it's actually later than that because y'all were searching for the blue door for about an hour.
Speaker A:So it's.
Speaker A: It's more like: Speaker F:Blue door developed.
Speaker A:Yeah, y'all, maybe it was on the inside of a building, y'all couldn't find it.
Speaker A:Yeah, maybe.
Speaker A:Great point.
Speaker F:Without knowing exactly what building.
Speaker F:Okay, we could always ask if there have been any bodies found on 96th and 5th that kind of match that, but I.
Speaker F:I think we would have heard about that before if they had.
Speaker D:Chris.
Speaker D:I imagine this would come up if it was important.
Speaker D:Did we need to specifically investigate the fingers of either of these victims?
Speaker D:My mind thinking that if they have like charcoal on them or whatever that drew the doors, was that kind of a non issue detail?
Speaker A:Well, Prentiss certainly didn't see that on the body of Maurice Swartz.
Speaker A:And it's not something you were looking at for Francis Ng, but, you know, maybe.
Speaker A:Maybe you could regain access to his cadaver and take a look.
Speaker D:But if.
Speaker D:Okay, I'm not gonna.
Speaker D:I'm not gonna do that yet, but.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker D:I just remember realized that it wasn't something I specifically asked about, but kind of feels like a detail that probably would have come up.
Speaker A:All four of you are back in the morg, sending over yet another corpse next to Special Agent Rachel Glenn.
Speaker A:The corpse is that of a woman in her early 20s, apparently of Asian descent.
Speaker A:And despite being fished out of the east river, as you are informed, the massive amount of bodily.
Speaker A:This is what Rachel Glenn says.
Speaker A:Adematization could not be accounted for upon intake.
Speaker A:Now, as you again stand over the cadaver, now that she's thoroughly quote, unquote, deflated, Rachel Glenn is awaiting your expertise and examination of the body as she communicates to you she believes there is a biological agent being used here that she would love your opinions on before she goes ahead and cancels the CDC console.
Speaker A:This just does not appear to be a contagion event.
Speaker D:Ryan's gonna look around the room and see if there's a chart.
Speaker D:Do I need to explain my thinking or.
Speaker F:And Prentiss is gonna start looking at the body.
Speaker A:There are.
Speaker A:There are no paper records at all.
Speaker A:All we have are computers and medical equipment nearby.
Speaker D:I was gonna try to get an address without asking.
Speaker A:An address of what?
Speaker D:The victim.
Speaker A:Gotcha.
Speaker F:The vic.
Speaker A:You can ask.
Speaker A:You can ask the agent if she's been identified.
Speaker D:Oh, she hasn't been.
Speaker D:Oh, sorry.
Speaker D:Agent, has the victim been identified?
Speaker A:No, but I do have the prince being run now.
Speaker A:Had to specially treat her fingertips, as you can imagine.
Speaker A:Yeah, we should have an answer back shortly.
Speaker A:She nods grimly.
Speaker F:Apprentice begins looking over the body.
Speaker F:Do another medicine.
Speaker F:Minus 20, if you're cool with that.
Speaker A:Actually, it doesn't need a minus 20 this time.
Speaker F:Oh, okay.
Speaker F:Well, success nonetheless.
Speaker A:Excellent.
Speaker D:So that's two successes then, right?
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker F:Banner day.
Speaker A:Doing pretty good.
Speaker A:You're looking over this body again once.
Speaker A:Once more.
Speaker A:We're not really digging into it with it.
Speaker A:With an autopsy approach, you're opening the mouth, that sort of thing, but that's about it, right?
Speaker A:You're noticing.
Speaker A:Hey, I don't have any bruising around the neck this time.
Speaker A:Not seeing any clear indications of struggle.
Speaker A:You do notice she does have a marking on her body under her left armpit.
Speaker A:It's a fairly large tattoo.
Speaker A:Special Agent Rachel Glenn notes that the intake examiner did not record this, probably because of the state of the body.
Speaker A:Looks like stylized dragons in a yin yang configuration.
Speaker A:They're devouring one another, kind of like an uroboros, but it's two dragons instead of, like, a one serpent.
Speaker A:This is depicted in very vibrant red and yellow inks.
Speaker A:Anything else the other agents are doing?
Speaker D:I'm gonna ask Special Agent Rachel Glenn if there were any.
Speaker D:Were there any personal effects?
Speaker A:No, this.
Speaker A:This is how she was found.
Speaker A:She.
Speaker A:Again, she washed up and was fished out of the East River.
Speaker F:Prentice is gonna look for any kind of small mark that he could pass off as a injection.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, you can find, like, a dimple that you might be able to say, oh, look at this.
Speaker A:You see this here, Special Agent Glenn?
Speaker F:This tells me she might have been injected with a biological agent, which is why we're not seeing any clear indication in the places where the victims die.
Speaker F:And it quite possibly has already died in the body by the time they are, in fact dead or by the time they're found.
Speaker F:I think we might still have a biological agent here in play, but not necessarily something that is massively spread.
Speaker F:I think we still need to be in on this investigation on the ground floor.
Speaker A:You think that's an injection site?
Speaker A:The agent asks.
Speaker A:She squints her eyes.
Speaker F:I seen quite a few in my day.
Speaker A:Mm.
Speaker A:Me too.
Speaker A:She leans back.
Speaker A:Did you see anything like this on either of the other two cadavers?
Speaker F:Well, to be honest, on the first one, there were several already taken by the agents that preceded us.
Speaker F:No fault of their own.
Speaker F:They were just doing their due diligence, so I could not conclude 100% that it was not them already.
Speaker F:The second body, I did notice one and also took some samples myself.
Speaker F:But I did notice one prior to my sample taking, which got me onto this third one.
Speaker F:Checking the body for injection sites.
Speaker F:Because this time I.
Speaker F:Well, this is a pattern with the two of them.
Speaker F:With the first one, I.
Speaker F:I couldn't really say for sure.
Speaker A:What kind of substance could do this to a person?
Speaker A:Fill their tissues with that much fluid?
Speaker F:Well, that's the problem, is I'm not able to get a sample at these times, so it's.
Speaker F:I mean, I'd have to go back and consult my vast library of knowledge with the cdc.
Speaker F:We have a database that I'd have to comb through and get back to you.
Speaker A:That was very curious, actually.
Speaker A:I wanted to ask you about that, Dr.
Speaker A:Kortar.
Speaker A:The samples that were in the room with Francis Ng were all empty when we took possession.
Speaker A:Repossession of the investigation.
Speaker A:Do you know what happened to that?
Speaker F:Not me personally.
Speaker F:I wouldn't have emptied them myself.
Speaker F:That would be wildly, wildly out of character.
Speaker A:Those were sealed samples and we.
Speaker A:We had them prepped before the quarantine for analysis.
Speaker F:I personally, you know, I ran the analysis, but I did not empty them, so.
Speaker A:And we also noticed that you were a person on your team.
Speaker A:Used our analysis equipment on floor 12 for a sample.
Speaker A:It came back as distilled water.
Speaker A:Was that one of the samples that was up in the room?
Speaker F:That is correct.
Speaker A:So the sample from Francis Ng's body was just water Agent, I can't confirm.
Speaker F:That that actually came from Francis Ng's body because I didn't draw the sample myself.
Speaker F:Chain of custody has not gone directly from me doing the analysis, so.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Fair.
Speaker A:Fair.
Speaker A:I'm just trying to put this together.
Speaker A:This is.
Speaker F:I hear you.
Speaker F:It's a strange one.
Speaker A:This is bizarre.
Speaker A:I've never seen this type of biological response to any invasive agent in any of my training or experience.
Speaker A:And so I'm just trying to piece this together since I have you here for a small additional amount of time.
Speaker A:And so again, nothing that you know of that could cause this level of edema in human Tissue that could be injected in this way.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker F:I have ideas, but I do have to do some.
Speaker F:Some research at our database.
Speaker A:Well, what are those ideas?
Speaker A:Please share them.
Speaker F:I don't like jumping to conclusions without proper data.
Speaker A:She shakes her head.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:She seems to be continuing to drill you, but she's interrupted by her own phone going off.
Speaker A:It's definitely smash mouth.
Speaker A:She picks it up.
Speaker D:Somebody.
Speaker A:Okay, thank you.
Speaker A:She hangs up.
Speaker A:She looks at her phone.
Speaker A:You see her clicking through?
Speaker A:Okay, our victim is identified.
Speaker A:Michelle Lee, age 21.
Speaker A:See her scrolling through it?
Speaker A:Looks like no criminal record.
Speaker A:She does have a sealed juvenile record.
Speaker A:I've got her last known address.
Speaker A:Looks like she was living with her mother in Chinatown here.
Speaker A:And some contract information.
Speaker A:She nods.
Speaker F:We're happy to go speak to the mother and investigate from that end where she could possibly fall.
Speaker A:All due respect, Dr.
Speaker A:Kortar, really, @ this point, I think it's appropriate for the FBI to be interfacing with the victim's family.
Speaker A:I will give you a call if I need any more of your input.
Speaker A:Maybe you and your team need to return, as you said, and interface with your databases to come back to me with some answers about what we're seeing here.
Speaker A:Because I do believe we're dealing with a biological weapon at this point.
Speaker F:Very well.
Speaker C:So at this point, Roizen's going to motion for Paris to step out of the room, make a certain phone call.
Speaker D:Ryan is going to engage with in conversation with Agent Special Agent Rachel Glenn.
Speaker A:After she speaking directly to Prentiss.
Speaker A:Slash.
Speaker A:Dr.
Speaker A:Kortar basically dismisses you and says, you know, retire to your labs and call me with your results.
Speaker A:Ryan smiles and steps in while Roysen and Paris leave the room.
Speaker A:Agent Prentice, you back up and pretend to be absorbed in the body still.
Speaker A:Agent Ryan, what do you say to Glenn, who has basically decided to let you go?
Speaker D:Agent, as complicated and strange as this series of bodies have been, I do want to apologize for what I feel like was us getting in your way.
Speaker D:But to be honest, this is.
Speaker D:And I'll speak for myself here, but I think it goes for all of us.
Speaker D:This is like nothing else that we've seen before.
Speaker D:And one of our biggest concerns is public safety.
Speaker D:And that's both literal public safety, in case this is a biological hazard, but also panic and ensuring that we are absolute in our findings before we make anything public.
Speaker D:I'm sure you can agree with.
Speaker D:With that sentiment.
Speaker A:Look, Asian Horker, it was on me when I let you into that crime scene.
Speaker A:I shouldn't have done that.
Speaker A:And I'll be taking the heat for that on my end.
Speaker A:So don't.
Speaker A:Don't you think for a second that I'm going to be sending any poor reports your way that would reflect badly on you and your team.
Speaker A:So put your mind.
Speaker A:Put your mind at rest there.
Speaker A:And second, I have three forensics experts on their way to.
Speaker A:To meet with me and join my team as this investigation expands.
Speaker A:At that point, I will have the expertise I need on the ground to keep investigating this as a crime.
Speaker A:I would love if you took the data that you've already gathered and bring it to whatever labs she motions towards.
Speaker A:Agent Prentiss, you need to do.
Speaker A:And if you come up with anything, absolutely get back to me.
Speaker A:But I do think we are now dealing with a crime that falls under the FBI's purview.
Speaker A:We're not dealing with a contagion of it.
Speaker A:I think that's quite clear with the evidence that we've so far gathered.
Speaker D:So Chris Ryan is interested in just keeping her relatively engaged in conversation long enough for Paris and Roisin to make their phone call so we don't have to play out the bullshit.
Speaker D:But that's, you know, so he's not.
Speaker A:Trying to convince her of anything.
Speaker A:Maybe he's just.
Speaker A:He's not taking any.
Speaker A:Very.
Speaker D:Trying to draw out the conversation.
Speaker A:Yeah, perfect.
Speaker A:Yeah, he.
Speaker A:He.
Speaker A:He's going to do that.
Speaker A:So let's move over to.
Speaker A:To Roisin in Paris.
Speaker C:So we'll probably do this call on speakerphone since we're in another room.
Speaker C:Closed door and whatnot.
Speaker F:Sure.
Speaker A:Yeah, that works.
Speaker A:No one's around.
Speaker A:Three rings.
Speaker A:It's picked up.
Speaker B:Agent.
Speaker B:Good news for me, sir.
Speaker C:There's another body.
Speaker C:Well, as a potential complication, we need approval to read in Agent Glenn.
Speaker B:Why would you do that?
Speaker B:Has she seen something?
Speaker C:As she is convinced we are CDC agents, she is now blocking all access to the next crime scene, as well as any potential witnesses.
Speaker B:Let's see here.
Speaker B:What's the next crime scene?
Speaker C:We suspect it is the home of the third victim, Amos Michelle Lee, aged 21.
Speaker B:Okay, what do you mean, block trying to.
Speaker A:Trying to understand this here?
Speaker B:What's in your way?
Speaker B:What's causing you some consternation?
Speaker E:She believes that this is a.
Speaker E:A homicide situation and that that falls outside the.
Speaker E:The purview of the cdc, which is how we've been set up.
Speaker E:And so she has said the FBI will be handling it from here.
Speaker E:So we could go solo.
Speaker E:We can try to keep working with her in some way we can.
Speaker A:Exactly right.
Speaker A:You can go solo.
Speaker B:Or try to keep working with her in some way.
Speaker B:But we're not going to read somebody in just because you're uncomfortable with bringing into someone's house.
Speaker E:Understood.
Speaker C:There is concern that if we wait for the agents to leave the potential crime scene, there may be more victims.
Speaker C:We're worried about time.
Speaker B:Stonewall the agent from the FBI and go check out the murder scene.
Speaker B:How is this difficult for you?
Speaker B:You're not going to read someone in to the SAP because things are getting uncomfortable on your end.
Speaker B:Are you kidding me?
Speaker B:Do you know what kind of leap it is to even.
Speaker B:I can't believe I'm having this conversation.
Speaker B:You don't just read people in when things get hard.
Speaker B:Stonewall the agent.
Speaker B:Get there first and do what you have to do, and do it with expediency and quietude.
Speaker B:That's what you're here to do.
Speaker C:Roisin's just gonna look at Paris.
Speaker C:Hang up the phone.
Speaker E:This fucking asshole.
Speaker E:I meant I miss Snedeker, so.
Speaker C:Yeah, I miss Snedeker, too.
Speaker C:But it sounds like we're out in the cold.
Speaker C:So.
Speaker C:You want a nap tapper or should I?
Speaker E:Yeah, I was concerned about this.
Speaker E:I think we are gonna have to go solo for a minute.
Speaker C:I think this may be my last opera.
Speaker E:So we wanna.
Speaker E:How do we wanna go about doing this?
Speaker C:I know what Royzen's gonna do.
Speaker C:Royzen's gonna dig in her backpack.
Speaker C:She's gonna pull out that CIA badge.
Speaker A:Whoa.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Sa.
