Speaker B:What time is it?
Speaker A:Who is it?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I.
Speaker C:Situation Green.
Speaker C:Crinkle.
Speaker A:Turn.
Speaker A:Sorry, honey, I have to take this.
Speaker A:So, Agent Relic, you breathe a sigh of relief when you hear the ghostly voice of the man from inside.
Speaker A:Wild out there stuff start to fade away with the static of your radio.
Speaker A:And you reach to turn off the set and to go, well, reconvene with your fellow agents inside the building to check on them.
Speaker A:But right before you are able to switch off the knob, the static swells again.
Speaker A:This time louder than before.
Speaker A:And the voice.
Speaker A:The voice is more insistent.
Speaker A:It's clearer.
Speaker A:And it speaks.
Speaker A:The one I woke will keep hunting Find the focus the stone underneath where masses sing Break it with fire with powder Bury it all behind stone Forget.
Speaker A:I will watch.
Speaker A:I will look at you forever.
Speaker A:Finally, the static dies down and it returns once more to the same country station.
Speaker C:As the static fades.
Speaker C:I look so.
Speaker C:What do you mean?
Speaker C:Look at me forever?
Speaker C:Like.
Speaker C:Like when I'm on the toilet.
Speaker A:Hank Williams Jr.
Speaker A:Doesn't respond, but continues to, seeing about how he's been abandoned by several of his recent lovers.
Speaker C:I head inside, or turn the car off and head inside to meet up with the rest of the team.
Speaker A:As you do, you involuntarily sort of cringe or flinch because what you see is three adults dressed head to toe and wrapped in heavy duty aluminum foil, standing in what looks like a partial landfill.
Speaker A:But to your additional relief, all of these strange, floating, anomalous objects are on the floor.
Speaker A:In fact, there's nothing spectacular about the scene before you, except for the amount of rubbish now that is covering every inch of the ground.
Speaker B:Romeo Crinkle turns to Relic and says, it's not what it looks like.
Speaker B:If it looks like something.
Speaker C:Huh?
Speaker B:Okay, yeah, I think we're safe to take these off now, probably.
Speaker B:And he begins taking off his aluminum armor.
Speaker A:Excellent.
Speaker A:You start unwrapping yourself.
Speaker A:It's tough and you get frustrated halfway through and have a.
Speaker A:Have a moment where you're tearing it very quickly and sort of angrily.
Speaker A:But at the end it is indeed all off of you and at your feet on the floor.
Speaker A:As you were all extricating yourselves, Agent Roizen, you do receive a phone call on your FBI issued Samsung smartphone from the number took him longer given for Agent Snedgar.
Speaker D:So Roizen answers with.
Speaker D:Yes sir, Agent.
Speaker A:I saw that you used this line.
Speaker A:Anything to report?
Speaker D:Well, yeah, there's some.
Speaker D:Let's just say weird shit is an understatement.
Speaker D:Although there is a body that's gonna need to be disposed of before civilians find it.
Speaker A:A body.
Speaker D:So the guy who runs weird stuff attempted to do some sort of ritual that resulted in giant purple spheres and floating objects that couldn't actually be moved and a gravity field that was dangerous.
Speaker D:And yeah, there will be some medical attention needed later in doing so.
Speaker D:He killed himself.
Speaker D:But he didn't kill himself and we had to go back in and kill him again in order to turn the field off.
Speaker A:There's a marked silence after you describe the last four to six hours or so.
Speaker A:He finally responds.
Speaker A:Agent I didn't pick up on most of that, but it does sound like a conversation not meant for this phone line.
Speaker A:Does sound like you've dealt with something difficult.
Speaker A:So listen carefully because you're going to need to hear this.
Speaker A:Let.
Speaker A:Let this ground you.
Speaker A:Let it ground your team.
Speaker A:You are the experts in the field right now.
Speaker A:You are advising me.
Speaker A:There's no one else in Columbus or Mechanicsburg to back you up or to provide context to what you're encountering.
Speaker A:You are the literal bleeding edge, Agent.
Speaker A:If you have located something, some phenomenon or anomaly that's caused the release and subsequent rampage of a killer, then you are still to evaluate, capture or destroy.
Speaker A:If you have evidence on your.
Speaker A:On your hands that needs to be disposed of or otherwise obfuscated from local law enforcement, that is.
Speaker A:That is part and parcel of your job.
Speaker A:And it's your call and your call only how to handle that.
Speaker A:If you have materials that you think need to be quarantined and turned in, well, we can arrange that after you've completed the operation to your satisfaction.
Speaker A:Have you completed the operation to your satisfaction?
Speaker D:Agent no, sir.
Speaker A:Then do we have an understanding?
Speaker D:Yes, sir.
Speaker A:Excellent.
Speaker A:Do you require any resources that I might be able to get to you?
Speaker D:One second, sir.
Speaker D:I believe the gentleman had a couple of requests.
Speaker D:At this point, Roizen's going to turn and hand over the phone to whoever is closest to her.
Speaker E:Ryan will take the phone.
Speaker E:Ryan Twins turns to Royson as she says, you know, hold on one second.
Speaker E:And says, is that Snedegar?
Speaker D:Roysen nods and grimaces.
Speaker E:Ryan reaches his hand out to take the phone from her.
Speaker E:Sir, this is Agent Ryan.
Speaker A:You have requests for me?
Speaker E:Agent I've got a couple requests, but first I want to start out by saying I understand that we're your team in the field right now and that this situation is on us to sort out, but I expect when I need to reach my supervisor, you do not understand what I will be requesting, and I expect you to answer the Phone.
Speaker E:Is there any reason that you are not available to us when we need you, Agent?
Speaker A:You are not the only field team I am coordinating.
Speaker A:I was en route to Toronto.
Speaker A:What do you need for me, Agent?
Speaker E:Okay, so actually I don't know what we need.
Speaker E:But I did want to yell at him, so let me think first.
Speaker D:I know there was something we needed.
Speaker D:I just can't find it in my notes.
Speaker E:I know, me too.
Speaker E:I'm thinking about it.
Speaker E:I was like, fuck.
Speaker B:Probably some accelerant.
Speaker E:Can I.
Speaker E:Can I.
Speaker E:Can I roll for a hint?
Speaker E:Just kidding.
Speaker A:I legit don't know what you guys need from him, but I mean, we do need.
Speaker A:That is what's Snedger's asking.
Speaker E:I can't think of anything.
Speaker E:So we.
Speaker E:I mean we need.
Speaker E:We need supplies to dispose of, clean the crime scene, but I don't know if that's.
Speaker A:Is that what you asking?
Speaker E:Okay, let me say it.
Speaker E:Sure.
Speaker E:Yes, our mess here is significant.
Speaker E:We could use some supplies to clean up a messy crime scene.
Speaker A:Well, I suggest that you get those supplies and obtain those supplies on the ground as best you can.
Speaker A:Not going to be able to send you a barrel of lie.
Speaker E:Agent Ryan huffs, rolls his eyes and hands the phone back to Royson.
Speaker E:And then I say as I do so, he can't help us.
Speaker D:I don't suppose you've been provided any further information that would assist us?
Speaker A:Sir, the information that I have that is up to date is what you just gave me.
Speaker A:Now, I will be clear.
Speaker A:Shouldn't be spoken over lines like these, but later provided in a handoff, a paper handoff in report form, and hopefully in greater and more complete detail.
Speaker A:But it does sound like you've been through something and I understand it was difficult.
Speaker A:So ground yourself.
Speaker A:Know that you are best perched to handle what you are facing.
Speaker A:If I can help, I will.
Speaker A:But you are.
Speaker A:Are my eyes and my hands in the field.
Speaker D:Yes, sir.
Speaker A:I won't be in transit again for another nine or ten hours or so.
Speaker A:If anything comes up where I can be of assistance, feel free to use this line.
Speaker D:Thank you, sir.
Speaker A:He hangs up.
Speaker D:Well, I.
Speaker D:I think from here on out we should pretty much assume that we have zero backup, so.
Speaker E:Well, I for one am not too in the mood to be digging graves right now.
Speaker E:So what are your thoughts on setting a fire?
Speaker E:Making it look like an accident.
Speaker E:Once we've taken what we need from.
Speaker B:This place, Fire sounds Romeo just gives a thumbs up.
Speaker D:Yep.
Speaker D:Fire sounds good.
Speaker D:Royson snags the laptop that had been floating in the Middle of the mess and shoves it in her bag with her other computers.
Speaker E:Ryan looks around and does he see anything that looks particularly of interest?
Speaker E:Oh, Lord.
Speaker A:GM sir, we've pretty much covered this room.
Speaker E:Yeah, I thought so.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So there's nothing additional that looks of interest.
Speaker A:In fact, it looks more chaotic than ever before now that all of the floating objects have clattered to the ground.
Speaker D:Okay, somebody should grab that knife.
Speaker B:Romeo was just about.
Speaker A:It is a.
Speaker A:It is a wicked looking knife.
Speaker A:So, yeah, if you want to take that out of the.
Speaker A:I guess now lower chest of the corpse of presumably Jeff Jenkins, you are welcome to do so.
Speaker B:Romeo, don some latex gloves and pulls the knife out of Jeff Jenkins lower chest.
Speaker A:Gotcha.
Speaker A:And he puts it in after.
Speaker A:After having stabbed him without gloves.
Speaker B:Well, he had the aluminum all over.
Speaker A:Oh, gotcha.
Speaker A:You're right.
Speaker A:The aluminum gauntlets of aluminum on cool.
Speaker A:It is a curved and serrated blade.
Speaker A:It looks highly ornamental.
Speaker B:Something from the back of a magazine.
Speaker A:Could be.
Speaker B:Well, he puts it in.
Speaker B:Romeo puts it in a evidence bag.
Speaker B:He turns to Ryan and says, do you know what a green box is?
Speaker E:No idea.
Speaker B:A green box is a place where we can.
Speaker B:We can put things we don't know what to do with or things that we're not sure of that we might not be able to destroy or might not understand its person or potential meaning.
Speaker B:So it's kind of on us to set them up.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:If you can't burn it, turn it in.
Speaker C:Let somebody else deal with it.
Speaker E:All right.
Speaker E:For now, let's hide the knife in.
Speaker E:In the back of the.
Speaker E:The truck and we'll.

Speaker E:Anybody here know how to make a place look like there was an electrical fire?
Speaker A:Who wants to take point on that and roll their criminology?

Speaker A:You four begin following the instructions, the careful and clear instructions of Agent Ryan.
Speaker A:Placing things that you would have never thought of in.
Speaker A:In ways that.
Speaker A:Well, are going to ensure you hope that any investigation, subsequently, any investigation will uncover that this was an accidental electrical fire that tragically burnt down wild out their stuff and resulted in the death of its owner.
Speaker A:After two hours working into the early morning, you four are on the road.
Speaker A:And you see in your rear view mirrors the telltale light of a fire disappearing over the horizon.
Speaker A:As you speed away, you four feel confident that anyone but the most eagle eyed of investigators will believe the story you've constructed.
Speaker A:Agents, it's been a long, long night at wild out there stuff.
Speaker A:You've encountered the impossible and you've dealt with some sort of intelligence that has guided you to do something about the strange phenomenon that you at least were witnessing on the site itself.
Speaker A:It also had disturbing news about your target, the animal that has been ravaging the populace of rural Ohio.
Speaker A:Agents, what's your next move?
Speaker C:Just if I could double check something real quick.
Speaker C:We're literally still within the same first day that we've been.
Speaker C:Right?
Speaker C:We've never gone back.
Speaker A:That is correct.
Speaker A:It is now technically the second day.
Speaker A:It's like four in the morning.
Speaker C:We just have to sleep.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:It is day two.
Speaker A:No sleep.
Speaker D:Sleep first.
Speaker B:Sleep.
Speaker C:Yeah, I think.
Speaker C:I think we need to get some sleep.
Speaker E:Agree.
Speaker A:So it sounds like we are on track to head back to Columbus and the Western.
Speaker A:Is that correct?
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker D:Yes.
Speaker E:Yeah.
Speaker A:When you four return to your rooms at the motel, you're still fairly.
Speaker A:Well, fairly hyped on adrenaline after what you've just been through.
Speaker A:Especially you, Agent Roizen.
Speaker A:You're still playing back the scene of Jeff being shot in front of you amongst this menagerie of just impossible floating debris.
Speaker A:But you all do your best to get a few winks.
Speaker A:Before long, the sun has risen.
Speaker A:And although you're still very groggy, you four do get up and meet in the lobby of the Western, where there is a assortment of cold cereals for breakfast.
Speaker B:Yummy.
Speaker B:So we make it in time for continental breakfast.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker B:That's good news.
Speaker A:That's correct.
Speaker A:That's correct.
Speaker A:Now's the time to.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Plan your Plan your next moves together.
Speaker A:Huddle together at one of the wobbly tabletops in the motel lobby, munching through flavorless reconstituted eggs.
Speaker A:They just have hard boiled eggs wrapped in plastic by the pair in a fridge next to some yop.
Speaker B:A beautiful picture of.
Speaker B:Exactly.
Speaker B:Exactly My nightmare.
Speaker B:Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool.
Speaker A:Do you want to roll sanity?
Speaker A:Is that appropriate for your character?
Speaker B:That for me personally, I need to roll my own sanity.
Speaker A:Okay, go ahead and do that and we'll keep your IRL Character sheet will be adjusted accordingly.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:Romeo is pensive as he eats and as everybody's kind of tucking in, he says out loud, so what do we have at this point?
Speaker A:We.
Speaker B:I don't think that was the source of the problem.
Speaker B:I think that was just part of it.
Speaker B:We're not done, but we've got clues, so let's go over what we've got.
Speaker D:I.
Speaker D:I think our next step is probably checking out the crime scenes themselves.
Speaker D:Even if there's nothing.

Speaker C:We went to one of the crime scenes.
Speaker C:We just couldn't find it.
Speaker A:You went to two of the crime scenes, Right.

Speaker A:And the elements had stripped the ground of any evidence that you could glean as a group.
Speaker E:I promise this isn't trying to metagame, but did Relic update us on?
Speaker E:Like, did we.
Speaker E:Were we around when the Jeff person or thing in Jeff told him all that stuff at the end there, or was he alone for that?
Speaker A:He was alone for that.
Speaker E:Okay.
Speaker C:Oh, I thought everybody heard that part.
Speaker B:No, you're still in your car, Relic.
Speaker A:That was.
Speaker A:That was a special moment for you and the strange voice.

Speaker C:I was gonna go back and, you know, you had mentioned my character at one point had picked up like, man, this thing's familiar.
Speaker C:I don't know what it is.
Speaker C:And I was like, I wanted to spend like an hour or two digging through notes to see if I could have another chance to get some insight into what it is.
Speaker C:We might be dealing with, but since we had to sleep, I'm like, maybe I take like.
Speaker A:So remind me what it is that you thought was familiar, please.
Speaker C:I think I have to go back and look.
Speaker C:I think it was maybe like the claw marks or something.
Speaker C:Perhaps I just.
Speaker C:Or the footprints or something like that.
Speaker C:That like jog memory and I mean, it was like a month ago.
Speaker A:Rather, rather than going over your notes because that's not going to have any information about the footprints, I highly recommend checking back in with the Champaign County Sheriff's office where they supposedly have gathered scene photos for you and seeing if they've done that task.
Speaker A:If that's what you want to look at.
Speaker C:Well, guys, I, I think we're checking with the Champaign County Police office, see if they've got those crime scene photos together for us.
Speaker A:Sure.
Speaker E:That's a great idea.
Speaker B:That's a good.
Speaker C:But also, yeah, something about the, something about what we saw yesterday just got an itch in the back of my mind that I've seen it before.
Speaker C:I don't know.
Speaker C:But also I need to share with you what else I heard from the friend last night over the radio and I relayed back the, the message that I received.
Speaker D:So Bryson's gonna stop him before he says anything inside that needs to wait till we're out in the cars.
Speaker C:It's like I just, I look around like relatives, like, oh yeah.
Speaker C:All right.
Speaker A:There's a very tired single clerk behind a desk outside of hearing range and there's a child unattended who is at a table a few tables over with about six of those containers of eggs and just smashing them on the table right now in the lobby.
Speaker A:Doesn't look like these are the espionage masters that you might need to fear when it comes to listening into conversation.
Speaker E:Okay, I think we're, I think I, I think we're okay.
Speaker E:Go ahead, Relic.
Speaker B:It's good to keep protocol.
Speaker B:I, I, yeah, yeah.
Speaker C:I say.
Speaker C:No, no, she's, she's right.
Speaker C:I'm a just, just used to being out on, on my own, so.
Speaker C:It's been a minute.
Speaker C:Forget that.
Speaker C:Some of these people might have ears listening.
Speaker A:Not to mention the child smashes another hard boiled egg and green yolk flies out and pellets the walls next to you.
Speaker D:Yeah, Roisin's gonna shove the rest of her food away and stand up.
Speaker D:I think I'm done.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:All right, let's head out as well.
Speaker B:I do want to mention I saw some heat lines above that bookstore.
Speaker B:I don't know, just kind of clicked into My mind that.
Speaker B:That flower guy with all the dead flowers, maybe that's related, but I can't imagine how that connects to anything going on with this.
Speaker C:Well.
Speaker B:Situation.
Speaker C:Well, as we're.
Speaker C:I assume we're walking outside now to the car, that I want to respond.
Speaker A:Yeah, you guys are around your SUVs.
Speaker A:There are no other vehicles around, no other potential listening devices or people that you can see.
Speaker A:You're probably safe to have a chat here in the parking lot.
Speaker E:As we walk through the lobby, Ryan leans over to Romeo and say, watch out, the clerk might get you.
Speaker E:And gives him a little bit of a teasing wink.
Speaker B:Romeo instinctively pats his holstered gun.
Speaker A:Jesus Christ.
Speaker A:Holy crap.
Speaker B:And he.
Speaker B:He kind of.
Speaker E:He.
Speaker B:He does that and kind of realizes he did that and.
Speaker B:And his cheeks kind of flush a little.
Speaker B:He looks down at his shoes and says, come on, man.
Speaker A:Not cool, bro.
Speaker A:Y'all are in the parking lot now.
Speaker C:All right, so, yeah, the heat lines you mentioned, I mean, to relay back what was said in the.
Speaker C:In the car.
Speaker C:I mean, I've got.
Speaker C:I think I've got the script here, Chris, if you want me to say it back.
Speaker A:Or.
Speaker A:How does Relic remember this?
Speaker A:And how does he.
Speaker A:How does he communicate it to the team?
Speaker C:Like, recorded or something?
Speaker C:If I was on the phone with them and they heard it, too, or if I recorded it or.
Speaker A:This was a special message.
Speaker A:At the very end, when you thought everything was done and you were about to turn off the set, the phone had been put away and the static rose again, obfuscating the dulce tones of Hank Williams Jr.
Speaker A:And it spoke to you in a clearer and more direct way than it had thus far, as if it was stronger, as if it was filled with greater purpose.
Speaker C:Look, it had a.
Speaker C:There was a little bit more that came through there before I.
Speaker C:Before I caught up with y'all.
Speaker C:And part of it had to do with.
Speaker C:With a prison and a prisoner of some kind.
Speaker C:Healing and hunting.
Speaker C:I'm not sure.
Speaker C:Something churning at the beginning, but the thing that really stood out to me is something's cracked.
Speaker C:The focus point is cracked, and it needs to be broken.
Speaker C:Flames, dirt, stone, earth.
Speaker C:All these things said to destroy it, bury it, get rid of it.
Speaker C:I don't know.
Speaker C:I just.
Speaker C:Maybe looking at the crime scene photos might jog something.
Speaker C:But also, Agent Romeo, if you're seeing.
Speaker C:What'd you say?
Speaker C:Lines coming off a building, like.
Speaker B:Like somebody.
Speaker B:He was cooking something heavy up top.
Speaker C:That building, you know that was across from that.
Speaker B:Yeah, it was in line of sight of that, Right.
Speaker B:I Just.
Speaker B:But if you said there's a focus point, maybe it's a literal lens of some kind.
Speaker C:Well, look, maybe after we look at those crime scene photos, we go poking around that building with the heat waves.
Speaker C:Heat lines.
Speaker C:Maybe there's something there.
Speaker B:Maybe.
Speaker B:I just.
Speaker B:I don't understand how this connects to what looks like bear attacks.
Speaker B:That's where I'm getting stumped.
Speaker C:Well, I'll be honest, I.
Speaker C:Half the stuff never makes sense.

Speaker A:And just.
Speaker A:Just to remind y'all, I know it's been a long time.
Speaker A:The heat.
Speaker A:The so called heat lines looked literally like somebody was cooking up on the roof.
Speaker A:That's as strange as it appeared to the agents.

Speaker E:Okay, meaning it could have literally been someone cooking on the roof.
Speaker A:There may have been somebody cooking on the roof at the time you drove by.
Speaker C:Okay, so maybe not.
Speaker B:Okay, let's start with the.
Speaker E:Let's start with the crime scene photos.
Speaker E:Let's see what we get from there and.
Speaker E:And not get too ahead of ourselves.
Speaker B:Okay, then.
Speaker B:Yeah, that.
Speaker B:That felt okay.

Speaker A:You squint your eyes and you know that's really more the size of a very very hefty grizzly.

Speaker A:The door closes behind the group of agents, and inside the entryway you see directly to your left against one of the walls, what looks like an arrangement of flowers, wreaths, unlit candles, photographs of a young boy, a baby, and lots of cards.

Speaker A:The church does open up into a large, spacious worship area with many rows of pews.
Speaker A:And you can see that there are several men and women working at the front of the worship area.

Speaker A:The God fearing people at the time they wrote and talked of accidents and community strife and strange mirages and lights in the sky during those first decades that they had to be attributed to more than just man's nature.
